Springtime On Its Way

Well, we've had 2 weeks of awesome weather, and after working in my garden a couple of weeks ago I'm now able to see just how big my daffodils have gotten. They were about 3" above the ground 10 days ago & now they're budding & blooming!

I also planted some new carnations, and they're doing well:

And under my mayten tree I have a bunch of primroses. They're spring flowers here, and in the summer when it's hot the flowers die off but the plant stays. Very colorful little things!

I also have a bunch of violas, or johnny jump-ups, that are doing well:

These aren't very good pictures as I took them late in the afternoon with my Droid. I'll get out there with my big camera in some better light once the daffodils really take off. But for now I hope this will encourage those of you with lots of white stuff on the ground. Spring will come -- just a few months later than here! ;)

Gorgeous photos! Gives me hope for warmer weather. ...and that I too, can learn how to use photobucket. Apologies for the space hogging photo I put up. I'm trainable...given a little time :?

Going back under my warm covers now...nite nite.

Lovely Laura! I'm looking forward to seeing which one of my couple of hundred bulbs I planted will actually come up this spring. The squirrels have been mighty hungry this winter with all the below freezing temps we've had!!! Thanks for bringing hope for spring!!!

No apologies necessary :) We love photos - and want them from everyone. Just prefer they get hosted elsewhere :)

Oh how beautiful, thank you for the post! I can hardly wait for ours to bloom. I had to chuckle at the contrast though, the post I read before this was Sue talking about all the snow at her house. I love having such a wide range of friends!

Awww, shucks you all! You've inspired me to get out there with my good camera & see what I can do later. Guess I'll haul it out when a few more of the daffodils open up & see what I can do to encourage you all who won't see dirt for another few months. :)

My little yard was one of the big selling points when I was looking for a new home. The whole yard is only about 600' sq., with a flowerbed running along the back fence. It's got a navel orange tree in one corner which gave me probably 50-60 wonderfully sweet & juicy oranges this year, the mayten tree in another corner, and mostly annuals throughout the rest. In my ideal world I'd like to create a small pondless waterfall in the center, but need to find a little brawn to get the initial holes dug (I'm on an old riverbed -- lots of rocks). Love to hear water! But the whole yard is easy to care for -- as long as I stay on top of it.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted with pictures as things continue to explode. If it's any consolation, we're supposed to drop into the 60s this weekend before going back up into the 70s next week. It's supposed to be 81 today though. ;)
