The Saga Continues

I have always considered myself a praying woman, but if you are not a praying woman buy yourself an RV and tow it through tight gas stations, winding tree lined state park roads, old tight city streets; be concerend about a "Brand New hitch" you are not happy with, drive in torrential rain, set up and take down in torrential rain. And keep laughing while you are doing it.

So, all that said. I camp at Nehalem State Park...great state park, only $20 for hookups. Get up in the morning to the most magnificent vista of golden sun on the 900 foot cliffs with waves crashing on them, east wind blowing back the spray of the huge ocean surf, mountains with sun and rising mist; unbelievable beauty, (I will never leave the trailer without the camera again) It was mind-blowing beauty. I was the only person on the beach, just me and God and a few seagulls. Then I head back to load up and head for my final destination in Netarts Bay, between two capes and beautiful Oregon cliffs. Hooked one of the brand-spankin new weight distribution trunnions into place and the other one, as yet untouched, popped it's pin right out of the hitch....there I was. Luckinly, just the night before I googled, and found "Tillamook Oregon RV Service" because I didn't like the performance of my hitch and didn't like they way it was attached by the dealer so I planned to stop by and get them to do it right. so I got out my laptop and googled them, got their number and gave them a call. He said go-ahead and slowly limp in the 26 miles on highway 101 to his place of business with just a basic hitchup which causes my truck to take all the weight on its rear end. I made it without much traffic and only went 40 mph or less. Lots of little towns on the beach so speed was reduced greately, thank God. Got to the place and 4 hours later they had me all set up in perfect order. The broken pin took them an hour to get out of it's hole. They said the hitch set up is a good one but the RV dealer did a crap job of mounting it. He called the Rv dealer and gave them hell; they paid for the whole thing. I was so happy with their help I almost cried in front of them and I am NOT a crier.
Then I got to my final desitination, later than planned, started to set up and it got dark, so once all was done I went inside my trailer to pour myself a drink (not a drinker but my sister gave me two minis so I thought, now is the time) I opened the fridge to get out the icecube tray, hit the door of the refridgerator and all the cubes went flyin everywhere....I tell you this is just way toooooo funny. I am laughing about the whole thing and sensing God's care in all of this....but man-o-man, this has been quite the start.

  And these make the best memories! I always tell myself that the camera has be be attached to me at all times. Do good for the longest period of time - then one day leave without it and miss a shot that makes me want to cry! So, yep, you always want the camera with.

See, kd, it is so cool that you did all that and still want to go on to the next spot. I am so glad you got the weight distribution hitch fixed correctly  and how great is that service place you went to. By the way you need to put their information in the Kudos and Not Kudos under the Tech/Maintenance section so those traveling can take a look if they need help in that part of the world.

Sounds like your spot on the coast is to die for. Definitely get the camera out and and post pics of your journeys. By the way, sounds like you just might be having the time of your life. :D Keep safe and continue letting us know where you are and how great (or not) it is for camping or overnighting.

If you can laugh through all that while towing a large trailer down 101 you have nothing to worry about! I usually figure one can laugh, cry or get angry and to me laughter seems like the easiest way to get through a situation. Wish I were with you, I love the Oregon and Northern California coast. Sounds like you were in a particularly beautiful spot.
Did you ever look for a 4 legged traveling companion?

KD, reading your post just tickled the heck right out of me! My first and so far my only trip down the road of about 77mls with this trailer was quite the day too. I'm super sure that both of us will have many more of them too. Just like the other ladies. ;)

Love the fact that you could laugh at the ice cubes flying. I so believe that a sense of humor is essential to a good life. Keep smiling and laughing and we will join in too.

PS. put a sign on your door that reads......TAKE YOUR CAMERA
