Went to the lumber store for the roof sealant stuff. No luck as they "don't" carry the stuff in quart cans and I sure wasn't about to buy a whole gallon of the stuff right now. Did get myself a small paint brush and lidded plastic container and came home and asked the neighbor, Jodie if she thought the other neighbor would be willing to let me use enough of his sealant to do my seams?? She called him and he said no problem. So filled my little 16oz container, grabbed neighbor lady's (Jodie's) ladder and up I went. Boy talk about getting older!!! Went up one side and got that done but saw where someone had repaired the front with freaking duct tape and then painted over it. Duct tape is wearing thru so might be leakage there. Moved the ladder to the front and 'painted' on the rubberized roof sealer all over the duct tape. Then moved around to the door side of the TT and up I went again. Let me tell you that by time I was making that third climb my knees were letting me know that my fat butt and old knees shouldn't be going up and down a dang ladder. Started out climbing the ladder but with the 3rd trip up I was basically crawling up. WHEW!!! But I got the front 5ft of seams on both sides sealed and 'painted goop' over as much of the duct tape as I could reach. Only left about a foot of the front where the duct tape is un-gooped. There was no way my knees were gonna put up with me attempting to go up that ladder a forth time. Kelly was having a fit that I was having a hard time climbing the ladder and wanted to try but she is really afraid of heights and I wasn't willing to have her try to only 'freeze' on the ladder. I will wait a few days until the weather is warmer again and climb back up and attach a broom handle to the paint brush so that I can paint the goop around the cover over top of the roof vent in the living room area. The silicone sealer someone use on it is cracked badly all the way around. ~sigh~ I will end up buying a gallon of the rubberized roof goop stuff and doing the WHOLE roof as soon as I can. I want NO leaks in here! I honestly only plan on keeping this TT for a couple of years or at least until we can set enough aside to upgrade to a newer, lighter weight TT. But I don't want to put a whole lot of money into it. Also need to cover the roof vent that's in the bathroom. The big cover is busted and gone and even the little crank up cover is gone. There is some plastic covering the vent but it sure isn't the best. I just might try and go up the ladder today if my knees will let me and put ? something ? maybe the dishpan, over top of it and then a big rock to hold it down. At least it wont be a blue tarp!

Believe it or not we are still going thru and sorting stuff in here to clean it up and get rid of it. Would love to bring our crafting stuff over here out of the storage room but not until we are done and set in here. Ain't gonna add nothing to the mess we still have. Gads I can't believe the crap we have in here and what all we will have to get RID of. But once gone it'll be nice.

Shouldn't use silicone sealer on a rubber roof. And I highly recommend you look into the Eternabond tape - I had to have my leak fixed many times - and did it once with this and it's been good since: http://www.bestmaterials.com/Eternabond ... e=adcenter

It's not chep - but if you have cracks, etc - I highly recommend it -

And be careful which roof product you use, as many say they are good on rubber roofs, and shouldn't be used on them.

The biggest problem with the Eternabond, is if a branch, etc should slit it. But if that happens, it's easy to see, and you simply put a new piece over it Haven't had to do that yet, but am prepared.

Echo, just a thought. Is there a salvage yard somewhere near you? You might be able to get a cover for a roof vent there.

I also wouldn't put the rubber roof stuff over the silicone without clearing it away first. As Beth said, they do not mix well. If you can, I would look into the Eternabond tape, it's well worth the money. I paid about $55 for the roll. ( It also kinda looks like duct tape.) Linda

Nope I don't have a rubber roof on this trailer. It's a metal one. So the rubberized stuff I used should be good to go with. It's called, Black Jack Roof Gard. It's made for metal roofs and says it's good for RV's. I know the neighbor guy here swears by it and so does Jodie who used it to cover her entire roof 3yrs ago. This stuff is like extra thick paint or thinned down spackling. You use a paint brush or even a roller with the stuff. Which is what I will do when I can afford a full gallon of it and then do the whole roof this coming Spring.

Sorry to say that the roof stuff is only a little over $20 and if I can't afford that right now I'm sure not gonna run out and buy a roll of tape costing $55. Sure wouldn't want to do the whole roof using that tape either.
