Schertz, Texas

Sharon (Sprinter), Nancy (Birdie) and I are in Schertz Texas for a GTG with some of the RVW women. Nice bunch of ladies and finally met cpatinjones (Carolyn). Today we're all going into Gruene (pronounced Green), a quaint little town nearby, for lunch. Back to Kerrville tomorrow for Sharon and I and Birdie is off to parts unknown again.

We all caravaned from Kerrville yesterday; Birdie led, I was in the middle and Sharon followed at the end of the line. They took the back roads cause I hate freeway traffic especially on a Friday afternoon and poor Sharon must have been pulling her hair out at how slow bigger rigs (ours our 30' and she's in a B) have to go on backcountry roads. Tomorrow on the way home I'll let her lead if she promises not to lose me somewhere in the boonies.

That is a neat little town! When I lived in TX my ex worked for a paving company and did work in that area every year and I would go visit on weekends, lots of neat stuff to see.

Yesterday we all drove into Gruene, Tx and had lunch. Sharon's parents drove up and joined us. Had a beer at the dancehall where so many famous people have played and sang including willie and George Strait. It was market days and I finally bought a wood sign for my rig - note the flamingos which of course, is what made me decide to purchase. I will have three wooden bones added to hang from the bottom with each dog's name on them. Sorry I didn't take many pics since I've been there before.

I'll add some photos to Karen's post. We had an awesome time terrorizing the lil town of Gruene ;) It's a very quaint German town with great food and shopping. They were having their Trade Days this weekend, and some of the girls got some great Christmas gifts.

This dance hall has a lot of history. All over the walls are photos of famous country singers that performed here. There was a live band playing there yesterday afternoon.

And here is a special performance by my Mom. What a hoot she is! lol

After walking the length of the town, we stopped in for a couple of longnecks ;) Karen and Birdie in the center and my folks at the end.

Karen and her new purchase :)

Then we ate lunch at the Gristmill. But the best part of the whole weekend was being with everyone. We got to see our Louisiana sisters Carolyn and Martha (who spoiled me once again with chocolate pralines ;) My parents came over to spend the day with us in Gruene and had a great time :)

Love,
Sharon

Karen, I love your sign. Sharon, I think I now know how you got to be the way you are - you take after your Mom. :) And that's good!
