All the Amazon locations are now hiring the big amount of people to Pick products. Most of these are through employment agencies. I'm told we'll have 1900 pickers joining us on the floor in a week or so. Going to be crowded :) But the more they pick - the more spaces I'll have to stow. So, will work out.

Some of the workampers are in picking, but not many - the vast majority of the pickers are for a really short time frame of a month or even less.

They are hiring 5000 in Phoenix as well. Wish they were hiring around here. Would be a great part-time job for me!

It's not really part-time - just short-term. Most of the hours are 10 hour shifts- 4 or 5 days a week. Lots of hours, but I'm not sure they'll take part time on these, maybe less days, but not shorter hours. But if anyone needs money and is close to an Amazon location - there is money to be made for a bit. The pickers have mandatory OT - can be extra days, or even extra hours (to 11 or 12 hour shifts, depending on the location).

Actually, the article I read mentioned two locations in Arizona but I forget what the other one was. Will have to go back and see what it was...

Yes, Amazon is in Phoenix. Also have locations in TX. Those don't use workampers - can get enough employees, even during the busy season, locally. Seattle doesn't use workampers, either - just local employees. They have more locations than anyone would realize. And to think, the business started out in someone's HOME in Seattle. Boy, it's grown!
