Okay, call me a sap ... but here I am, watching the WHOLE von Trapp "family" on Oprah and tears are running down my cheeks. What fun it was to hear so much of the back story about each of the kids, now 45 years older! Amazing!

I have to say that "The Sound of Music" never gets old for me. I can watch it and sing along every time with as much gusto as I did 20 years ago. It's a timeless movie.

Anyway, I just had to share my "moment" with you.

Me too. Always loved the "Sound of Music". Can you imagine what it must have been like to have gone through that with the Nazi's and all that.

I learned more about them when I traveled through Vermont. Would have liked seeing that show. And yep, I probably would have been crying, too.

Let me guess. Since CA/TX are kind of warm for warm wooly mittens, it must be a white dress with blue satin sash.

I watched the Oprah show today, too. It's wonderful that they are all still alive and well. Loved the story of the movie opening on the mountain when they did take after take and every time the helicopter passed over Julie the downdraft knocked her down!
I still remember my best friend and I going to the theater to see the movie. It was my first movie that I saw that was long enough to have an intermission. She went back the next day and watched it again.

Oh! I was thinking about the DVD of the movie!

I enjoyed the show to do as well!!! it was fun to see them all grown up and will have to admit to blurry eyes as well

When I first saw the movie, it was a a new theatre called the Cinerama. Big huge 3 screen thing. Made you feel like you were right in it. Fantistic.

Might be a good theme for this web site. We are climbing mountains, crossing streams, following every byway and living our dreams.

This is one of 2 movies of my entire childhood that my dad took me to - the other was Mary Poppins. My mom didn't like musicals. Don't remember tons about the theater experience, just that my dad took me. Don't remember him ever taking me to any others. My sisters and I used to sing song in the car and we had a really special number with "my favorite things" We each sang one verse and also each had one part in the chorus. I'm sure it was a show stopper.
