Yes, I am here in South Carolina...wooo hooo... I zipped on through pretty good.. a bit windy...but so was my blog this morning before I left hahaha...

Soos, for you.. I have always stayed at Flying J's since they opened and never had a problem.. but let me say.."no matter where I've parked, I still pay attention to my surroundings.. Now as for the parking .. I've been good about getting spots to park car and rig... only a few times I've had to unhitch.. but if you get to the Flying J before 3pm.. you got a good shot at a good spot...that's on the east coast I'm talking about..

If you are coming down 81... then you'd stay at Carlisle Exit 52A off 81 (which is in Pa)... then the next Flying J I stop at was at Exit 323 (which is in Va) Winchester.... then pick up 64 East towards Richmond..that will be a little mountain climbing so be prepared . Now at this point I watch signs for 295 as this goes around the eastern side of Richmond..which makes life easy as far as the bad roads and traffic. this will bring you into 95... Now the flying j is at exit 104(Ruther Glenn known also as Carmel Church ) which would be North.it's only a few miles up...from where you would be getting on 95 ..I take the few minutes and stop there..then just turn around in the morning and head 95 South. if you are confused.. I'll PM you my cell phone number..

Then I head south on 95 my next Flying J is where I'm at right now in Latta South Carolina Exit 181A.. I camp here for the night and then off in the morning to the Flying J in Brunswick Ga Exit 29 I stay there and the next morning I'm only
4 hours from Wildwood Florida..

Yes they have Wifi and you pay for it..but i'm using my Air Card... Food is ..well some have Denny's I do breakfast only and have food for dinner...

Now I can only drive up to 6 hours and I have to stop..so for me this makes life simple.

Ok... any more quesion I'll do my best to help ya..

I'll be meeting Lori and Ernie tomorrow and I will tell them you all said "Hello and lots of good stories too "

God Bless.. I'm still kickin

Zeee

THANKS so much, Barbzee! I copied that down and printed it out! This is wonderful news for me! I can save mucho money by not having to stay at campgrounds!

Happy trails tomorrow, and have a wonderful trip. I can't wait to meet you in person this winter!

Hi Zeeee ! Glad to see you safely to a couple of your Flying J's.

Soos, I stay at Flying J's all the time - watch up front for the rv spaces - they are front near the cars most of the time - just for rv's. NOT back with the trucks. There are a few Flying J's where rv's and trucks park together, but most now have the rv parking up front. They are also very easy for getting in and out of when getting gas. And they fill lp tanks. Most of them have dumps - but while they used to be free, they now charge for them (blame our fellow rvers who took advantage of them - but still not a bad deal if you need to dump and have been boondocking many nights).

Soos, have you seen that book The Next Exit? It looks good, I may get it. Says where truck stops and Walmarts and stuff are along the interstates.

I just ordered that book, and now have it, but was disappointed in that it seemed to concentrate on Motels and Hotels rather than truck stops---especially Flying Js. It seems to have a few, but I was so hoping that it would present more truck stops. Maybe I just haven't taken the time to look at it properly yet. I got more and better info printed from the Flying J/Pilot internet site yesterday than that books offers me. I suspect it will still be useful to me as I get more experience on the highways. It's a well-done volume of info about hospitals, lodging, food, etc., but.....
