In today's paper:

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – A 55-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after she fell out of a motor home that was traveling on Interstate 10.

About 4 p.m. Tuesday, three people from Midland City, Ala., were heading westbound on I-10 a few miles from the U.S. Highway 331 exit in a 1975 Dodge motor home when Sharon R. Glover walked to the rear of the motor home to use the restroom, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Glover somehow fell out of the vehicle and slid 100 feet on the paved emergency lane before hitting the grass shoulder.

β€œIt is unknown if the passenger opened the wrong door or leaned on the door,” an FHP news release said.

The driver, 50-year-old Bonnie J. Rickett, noticed that Glover had fallen out of the motor home and pulled off the road about a quarter mile west of where she hit the ground, the release said. Glover was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with serious injuries.

Rickett was not under the influence of alcohol, but Glover had been drinking, the release said. Another passenger, 53-year-old Stanley J. Rickett, was also in the motor home.

No charges are pending.

GOOD GRIEF!

I guess that means no more consuming Recipe while driving for me, eh?? :)

I can't imagine the shock of thinking you are going into a bathroom when you then step out into space and hit the pavement! Poor lady!

A good reason to keep your door locked while traveling.

Me thinks she maybe had just a touch to much alcohol in her system.

Another example of why we have those "strange" safety warnings attached to so many products... :) Protecting liability from.......not to smart.

I'm sorry she was hurt - but, being the bad person I am I laughed like a fool over this one ! It's totally something my crazy drunk relatives would do ! I can completely picture Aunt Norma rolling down the highway, getting up and stumbling back to the RV for another drink.
Hopefully this lady fully recovers and watches her step from now on !

I'm glad she's gonna be okay, but like some of you other sick minded women, I'm thinking she'd no longer need the bathroom, but more like a shower and change of undergarmets! :o :?

I feel really bad for the lady, and also, feel terrible for how hard I laughed. My thoughts were on the fact, IF she was heading for the bathroom, doubted she needed to get there after the outside door opened up. All bruised and banged up and wet too, how horrible is that, with people all there to help you. What a terrible accident though. Doors opening up are not funny , that happened to us once, so my door is always locked, not just because I travel alone, but because, I want to be sure its shut as tight as I can get it. If she had had a certain amount of alcohol maybe the fall didn't hurt her all that bad.

Wow, just about anything can happen in this ole world huh?

CArol :)

I was very happy to learn I wasn't the only one who found the humor in this tragic 'accident'!

I admit I spewed coffee all over my keyboard! Maybe some yellow police tape blocking the door to the outside would have made her take notice? A lawyer would have a grand time trying to conjure up a lawsuit for this mishap!

Now I know for SURE that I don't want an RV w/ a back exit! Give me a side exit, every time! ! ! ! !
