Hey all.. just a quick fix as to where we are at... My favorite stop.. HA.. the Flying J in Richmond Va..Critters are settled in and so is the Hubby.. What an Adventure.. Talked with Lori and Ernie.. I'll meet up with
them in a couple of days in Ga..
It feels good to be on the road ....but as for the rest that goes with it..well, that's just another Adventure in my Life.
Looking forward to meeting a few of the Sistah's at the GTG... sure wish I could park with you all.. but not this time.. '
My Joe is handling the trip pretty good..better than I expected and that makes me feel more at ease..other than that...well I'll write about it tomorrow in my journal.. HA ..
It's cookie time here... Reba is doing her dance..and then it will be lights out .. Hoping for an early start (Maybe)
God Bless
Zeee...and the roust abouts ...LOL

YAY, Barbzee!
Now then, where is that Flying J, and can you stay overnight in one of those places? Is there food there? Is there any WiFI? Do you feel safe there? Do you know the number of the exit, and is it on 95 or on the bypass around Richmond?
As you can see, I would like to make that a stop for Sue and me on our trip south, too. In fact, as you find those spots, I would LOVE to know where they are, if you could be so kind as to post them for me. Wow---this is like having a guide down Route 95!
Thanks for checking in, and I'm glad you have made it safely. I will look for further instructions from you, if you have an internet connection!
Happy travels!

Hi Zeee.....Love your 'blog'...Don't know if I could have gotten through all that as well as you did....I think we've all been there when we've missed a turn off or been in the wrong lane & no one would let us in so we could get over to where we needed to exit....But, my surprise is that people on your side of the U.S. are just as 'stressed' & not very courteous as they are on this side of the U.S. Anyhow, after all you went through, sure glad you finally got to the Flying J.
Hope the rest of the trip is trouble free for you....Be safe!

Yes, Soos, you can stay at any of the truck stops...Flying J, Petro, Loves, to name a few of the major ones. Some of them have quite a bit of room, and some of them are pretty cramped. There's food at all of them (my favorite is the Iron Skillet at the Petros),sometimes a good restaurant and sometimes just fast food of some sort like McD or Wendys and most of them have wifi, but you usually have to pay for it. You can search them out by going on their website, but trust me, you'll see them off of the freeway and usually plenty of bill boards before you get there. They're all up and down the freeway, no shortage of truckstops until you get to Ca! Always easy on easy off. Be aware that it is noisy to sleep there, the truckers run their engines all nite and lots of coming and going as they get their required time off and hit the road again. I've always felt safe there and never had a problem. Just don't block a truck in or block a driveway and you'll be fine.

Glad you made it safely Barb.
Soos, A lot of flying J's have areas just for RVs. The areas are away from the truckers and are a bit quieter. I never felt unsafe at a Flying J or a Loves. (those are the only ones I have used) Linda

..
Soos, you have a GPS, right? You can download all those big truck stops' locations from the POI Factory. I took all 3 of them and made them into one big CSV file (using Excel) and loaded it into my Garmin. Then just use WAYPOINT ALONG CURRENT ROUTE.

Huh????
I barely know how to turn on my TomTom, let alone do all that other stuff! Let's hope my daughter can help me figure that all out Friday night (next week) when she gets here.
However, I DID find a great website with lists and maps of all the Pilot and Flying J places along 81 and 95 where I will be traveling. They have addresses for the individual ones, so I can plug those into my TOmTom and/or my Sync. And I found out there really are a lot of them out there. My printer got a workout today!

Way to complicated for me, I just look for the billboards!
But I fuel in the truckstops, so I look for them. Then I take a drive thru to see if there's room for me to park if I need a lunch or potty break. There's always a way to get thru them. I used to stay overnite in them quite often, but any more I just get a PP park with a pull-thru.
