THIS SEASON WE CALL FALL

Fall or Autumn as it is also called is probably the the favorite season of the year for those of us who can enjoy it's beauty and the trappings that make up the season. Lasting only a few short weeks at most, but in those few short weeks, it draws us outdoors to look and marvel and enjoy these changes that only Mother Nature can bring about. Nothing can compare to it. The vast panorama of colors, whether it be one tree or many, are a canvas that only the Master's hand can paint. Sure, we know it has to do with photosynthesis, the breaking down of sugars and other cells in the leaves, the amount of daylilght as the days grow shorter. But let's leave that to the experts. Come along and enjoy this "Season We Call Fall".
It starts with a single leaf and spreads across a branch
Image
It spreads across a tree, a group of trees, a hillside
Image
Image
Image
It beckons us to drive along a country road
Image
Or along a two track trail
Image
It calls us to walk a forest path
Image
It's rows of colorful pumpkins and basketfuls of gourds at roadside stands
Image
Image
It's bushels of apples, jugs of Apple Cider and fresh baked doughnuts, Apple Pies and Carmel apples
Image
There's plain carmel, Carmel Nut, Carmel Chocolate with nuts, or peacans, or just plain, Chocolate with sprinkles, Orange Choocolate & Coconut, Chocolate Peanut Butter. My oh my, which should I choose!
It's fall decorations on fences and gates
Image
Image
It reflects on calm waters and it's fog shrouded lakes
Image
Image
Image
As you walk along those forest paths, and pick up a leaf or a handful of leaves, you hold Autumn in the palm of your hand
Image
Image
It's the smell of woodsmoke rising in the air, it's frosty mornings, cold clear nights, sunny blue skies and chilly rainy days
It's rows of corn stalks waiting to be cut.. Sign of another harvest season over. And it's old barns, who if they could talk would tell you of harvests long past
Image
Image
And all too soon this season begins to fade, as the leaves come floating down
Image
Image
And this short but beautiful season becomes another memory

Thank you Colliemom,

Sure reminds me of home this time of year :) And it sure is beautiful. I'm imagining the taste of apple cider and the scent of apple butter cooking over the copper kettle. Thank you for that :)

Love,
Sharon

Your welcome ladies. Since I can't camp anymore and am not traveling this wintre, this is what I do for fun. Run around and enjoy the seasons. Well fall at least. Winter has a beauty of it's own, but also some wicked weather as those of you who are leaving it know. But I do get out and do some photography when I can.
Hope this might have brought some fall views and perhaps memories to those of you living in states where this type of things isn't common. And Liz, you can get the NE fall tour next year. That's an area I want to see too. Fall color in Vermont and New Hampshire looks absolutely beautiful.
Now comes the fun of cleaning up all those leaves you saw in those pictures :D

Living in the Ozark Mountains, I see some pretty awesome falls (which is my favorite season) but your pics made me all warm and fuzzy, also motivates me to get out and take more pictures, then learn to post them  My Smoky Mountain getaway is cancelled :( but might do a little jaunt to the coast in November..love to walk on cool sand :) Nanc

Thank you for those, they are much brighter and more colorful than ours are this fall.
You have a good eye for composition.
