Wish I had used that for my blog post - as it's a song by the group Chicago and my post is mainly concerned with the new(er) Millenium Park in Chicago. Did update the post to add that as the first line, tho:

Had a great time. I didn't take any pictures at the actual class reunion, but am waiting for some to show up on Facebook and "borrow" them.

You all look cold, but have happy smiles! Glad you're enjoying yourself, Beth.

Yep, that was/is Chicago, the "windy city"! LOL The first thing that hits me whenever I'm in that city is the smell, mostly exhaust. lol Great pictures and fun times!

When you saw your old classmates, were you surprised how aged everyone looked? Finding people on Facebook that I went to school was like that for me, I can't understand how I stayed so young all these years!

Chicago is my favorite big city. I love it. Even in the cold/rain - but preferably in the warm. Yep, the friends made the day.

Vickie - I don't know how, but lots of us still were young. Then there were a few that I thought, hmmmm, what the he.. happened to them? Can't by from MY class.

Then there was one guy I dated way back when - looked better now. How come guys can do that - look so much better as they age???

Most unfair, isn't it?

I loved reading your blog as that is where Olivia and I went this summer to visit son #2. It was a beautiful weather week when we were there and we really enjoyed our visit. Loved the Bean! Loved the park! They were having "Taste of Chicago" when we were there so had lots of eats too!

It's always good to go "home", isn't it? Even if it isn't our home anymore, it is that familiar feeling.

It's a shock to me when former students find me on FB, and they look middle-aged. :o

Glad you had such a great time in the "Windy City" :) That was my first close up tour and it is impressive. I never took time to stop, I was just always so thankful to get thru it! ;) Enjoyed your blog post :)

Love,
Sharon

All, I don't know where Beth stayed while in the Chicago area, but if any of you do decide to go there, I can highly recommend the Indiana Dunes State Park. Yes, I know it is in Indiana, but it is on the rail line and the station is just a few minutes away outside of the park. It was so convenient to ride the train into the city and back out again. I drove into the city the first day and decided that was definitely NOT the way to go! The rates at the park were very reasonable, I think it was $20 a night, and the sites were paved and large. Also, I think summer was beautiful there, but doubt that I would ever want to be there in the winter!

Hahaha, Paulette - I remember telling you not to drive - and I always wondered what you ended up doing. We also didn't drive into the city - took the el from near O'Hare. I was staying free - boondocking - at places that would allow me to be near my friends. The 2nd night I boondocked in the bar parking lot where we had the reunion. Hey, I'm not stupid - was NOT going to drive after drinking - and they couldn't tell me to - not with the Dram shop laws :)

There are no real close cg's to Chicago - where Paulette stayed is an excellent choice - then take the public transportation like she did. There is so much to see and do in downtown Chicago. If I'd never been there before I would need several days - as it is - would have loved to have gone more places, but we only had the one partial day and we picked going to the place that was "new to us" and sure am glad I did.

BTW, I didn't tow my car for this trip - left it at my sister's house. Good thing - gave me a lot more freedom on this trip. And choices in where to stay. Could have stayed at a friends - in their driveway - but while the garage is a double, the driveway is a single - and would have had to play musical cars/rv - easier to find the places I stayed.
