Darn Black Cloud

Well, my new place failed its inspection! I'm glad I hired an independent house inspector because he found way too many major problems for me to handle. And when I saw how the sellers covered up some of the problems, I definitely don't want them "fixing" everything. I have this darn black cloud hanging over my head because just about everything that could go wrong - has! I'm like that little Dutch boy with his finger in the dike - I fix one problem and another pops up!
My buyer is being very understanding and patient. The closing was supposed to be in 11 days! He's giving me more time to find another place, but I sure as heck don't want him to withdraw his offer! I'm going out with my realtor again Sunday to see if I can find another place. I'm only targeting two mobilehome parks where you own your own space, so at least we don't have to run all over creation. But finding another one that checks off all my boxes won't be easy!
Everyone, please take a deep breath and BLOW that stupid black cloud away for me!

I'm so sorry your new place didn't work out. Hopefully you'll find something you like even better. If not, you should consider having estimates done for the work needed and ask the sellers to credit that amount in the sale and you can hire it done yourself so that you know the work is done correctly. Now that they are aware of the problems, they are obligated by law to disclose it to any potential buyers. (can you tell I used to be in real estate
)

Evie, why don't you buy the place but remove the trailer and get another one? My mom's place (in San Marcos) was a park where you owned your own land and people would come in, buy the trailer/land, and then put a new trailer on the property.
Just a thought ...

Evie, I am so sorry to hear you are under this black cloud. Try to remember the sun is up there some where, and will be shining again very soon. Sometimes we think it takes its jolly good time shining down on us, so have patiences. There is a special place that will suit you better somewhere, just needs a wee bit more shopping around. Huffin' and puffin', with everyone else, to help blow it away.
Good Luck,
CArol

I really appreciate everyone's concern and suggestions - what would we do without friends - even electronic ones? I don't think I ever did explain what I'm trying to do: I wanted to get enough money from the sale of my house (after paying off mortgage and selling expenses) to pay cash for an older mobile in a buy-your-own-space park. I will have a very tight budget to work with. Although I have the option of living in Flitter if necessary, and a special friend has offered her yard and home, I don't want to pay moving expenses twice! Hence, my rush to find something.
Vicki - Repairs would cost almost 1/3 the cost of the house I was going to buy - and it would take much longer than I want to wait. Having been through major renovations before when I was much younger, I have no desire to go that route at this age! I'll just hope to find something move-in ready even if I have to put up with Avocado Green or Harvest Gold for awhile!
Laura - Yes, my next door neighbor just did that (bought the old, beat-up mobile and had a new one brought in), but it's very costly when you add everything up and now he has more money tied up in that house than it's value. Back 17 years ago we thought of moving our old mobile to this site because we loved the house so much, but the cost even then was very high.
Carol - I'll take the sentiment of more sunny days, but since it's supposed to be 103 here again today I'm thinking I'll pass on more sun!
I know it will all work out - eventually. I wish that once - just once - things would go easy for me!
Do I see a bit of blue sky peeking through that cloud? Must be my buddies all blowing hard!
Thanks for caring, guys.

So sorry things aren't working out Evie. I thought Laura and Vickie had good ideas maybe it's just a big bump in the road and things will work out even better than you first thought. ((((HUGS))))

How disappointing, Evie. I'm so sorry but glad the problems were found before you moved in. Fingers crossed for a better place!

I'm sure you will find something even better for your new home. I'm very familiar with that darn black cloud but it does have to slip off now and then to bug someone else. Here's more huff/puff to move it out of your life.

I'm joining in on all those huffing and puffing and blowing that black cloud right away from you. Blue Skies! And you are going to find a home this weekend that is better - and you'll be glad for the temporary black cloud that stopped you on this one! (Yep, I'm a forever optimist!)
