Well, you can't keep me down long...the Lord lifts me up continually. And you don't have to look far from where you sit to find interesting places to explore. Ducktown is about 5 miles from Carol's house.

That's neat! That mine supported a lot of families, but can you imagine what it's like having to do that for a living.....hard work.

Working in the mines had/has to be one of the most scariest and potentually dangerous jobs there is. I've been following the disaster of the mine workers trapped underground in Chili. They are alive but they are estimating it will be Christmas before they can be brought out. Can't imagine being underground for that long.
Wonderful tour and history lesson, Liz and Carol.

As usual, another of your interesting, wonderful tours of a place I have not only never heard of, but would never have thought to visit! What an amzing history lesson that was! Thank you so much for your curiosity and your love of strange and beautiful places! That devastated landscape is sickening, however, and makes one wonder how much more devastation we humans have wreaked on our beautiful planet. Sigh.
