I'm breaking these up so the files aren't so huge and don't keep you waiting all night or day for the down loads.
The next morning we made our way down to the arch (we later learned it was 101 that day) Here's an up close and personal look at it
Image
And here's me at the baseImage Now I am terrified of heights but we bought tickets to go up to the top and I'm really glad I did. Here's proof I did Image It's pretty cool that it looks and feels like you are inside an arch Image Here's a couple views of the city and the river Image the stadium, again
and this building I think is a former courthouse Image andImage a bridge Next I spent some time in the Museum of Westward Expansion which tells the story of the Lewis and Clark expedition, which, of course, started from St. Louis. This guy is either supposed to be Lewis or Clark, I forget which. Image Then we boarded the Tom Sawyer for our narrated tour up and down the river with lots of fun facts given by the friendly ranger. The kids, framed by the arch, on the boat.Image
Tuesday we went to the zoo, which is located inside the famous Forest Park, the largest city park in the US. We had wanted a little tour of the park which we ended up getting by simply riding the shuttle to and fromn the zoo but it was simply too hot to get out and take pics at all those places. It was Aaron's birthday so here he is with his buddy Image They had this carousel with hand carved animals tooImage And my favorite shots of the day were these in the insect house, of all things.Image and this oneImage and this last one. This teenager walked around with this on her hand the whole time we were in there. Image We ended the day with dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, where the birthday boy ordered his very first drink ImageHe studied the drink menu with great care and chose something he really thought he would like because, like his mother, he really doesn't care for the taste of booze. The waiter told the bartender it was his very first drink and they tried to "fix him up" by pouring at least triple the amount of cherry vodka. It was so strong he only drank about a half inch of it!

Great pictures!! I have a good friend who lives in St. Louis and she keeps encouraging me to visit her. Maybe I'll have to make the trek there.

Enjoyed your photos :D Nice looking couple! Happy birthday to Aaron. My first drink was a Harvey Wallbanger. My big sister bought it for me. It was yummy  If you are still in St. Louis...My DD and her family were there to visit family this summer and they went to a really awesome museum! I think it was the City Museum. The kids kept telling me I need to go there ;) Their pictures sold me!

City museum is awesome. Pics will be in Day 4 & 5. For a city, there is a lot to see and do there. And the public transportation is great too, if you don't want to mess with traffic. Many of the stations have special park and ride lots too for commuters.

Kellie, I love St. Louis for all there is to see and do. Neat city. And I'm so glad you went up in the arch - those with claustrophobia don't dare take the ride up. But it's so neat - nothing else like it.

Can tell you are all enjoying yourselves immensely - and that's what it's all about!

Kelli - thanks for sharing your great trip. Wonderful pix. Looks like you all had such a great time! I probably wouldn't go up to the top of the arch but maybe could be persuaded - don't like heights or closed in spaces. LOL Loved your pix of the whole arch. Keep enjoying your trip

Linda

I took the ride up the arch not long after it was built. Yep, if you don't like confined spaces you'll not enjoy the ride up!
My GD loved the picture of the clydesdales in the other post. She wanted to see picture after picture of them, tho!
Great looking couple, too! What fun!
Enjoying your visit with you! Thanks!
