Weekend Camping Trip

Postby VickieP » Mon Aug 02, 2010 1:02 am

Ronnie and I spent the weekend at Big Bass Marina on the Toledo Bend Reservoir. It is a reservoir on the Sabine River between Texas and Louisiana. The lake has an area of 185,000 acres, the largest man-made body of water in (or partially in) Texas, the largest in the South, and the fifth largest (surface acre) in the United States. The dam is capable of generating 92 megawatts of electrical power. The dam was built by the two states, without any assistance from the federal government. There are many campgrounds and resorts along the water in both states.

There are only 4 rv sites available as most of the other sites are cabins/trailers for lease or long term leases for peoples rv's.
This is our site. At least it had a couple of small shade trees.

My sister and BIL have a camp on property adjoining the marina/campground.

They added the canopy when they bought it, for shade and parking the boats.

This is my sister, Beth.

My BIL Ronnie, loading the boat after a afternoon fishing trip.

Yep, he caught a big one!

The next day we were able to get Ronnie on their pontoon boat and we went for a ride and did a little bit of fishing, but didn't catch anything.

How funny that you sisters married guys named Ronnie, and I think the Ronnie's look allot alike, too!
What a neat place they have and looked like fun!

Beth's hair is actually grey, (but we can say it's blonde like mine just to get Mitch) she used to have brown hair.

It was VERY HOT! Temps around 100 and heat index around 115!

After I took the pic of Ronnie's fish, he released it back in, to grow bigger.

what a lovely place, seems I especially notice all the lovely green GRASS in every picture
of all the different campgrounds, I'm sure hating the hot dusty dirt yards in the desert
now. Thank you for the lovely grass pictures :D

Great pictures to share, Vickie! Thanks! And that is one beautiful bass! What does your sister's shirt say on the sleeve, "Fish, ??????, and release?" My son is a large-mouth catch-and-release guy, and I would love to get shirt like that for him for a Christmas present.

Thanks for the great pics!
