Quickie update.

Haven't been on for week or so- had computer problems. Thought it was laptop itself and could only see major $$. Took to local repair shop where they checked it out for FREE. Was the power cord instead. Didn't have any in stock and universal one ($60) to be in at end of week. Went to Brown County State Park in Indiana (state 22) with my sis and her kids for a couple days. Got back and called the computer place, - no cord. Called another and they said they could order model specific one for $20 - 25 but would take a week or so. DS said his friend had a Compaq that puked and might be able to spare the cord. Finally got it this am and back in business! Also traded vehicles today - bought 03 Jeep Liberty Sport, only 56,00 miles. Also bought new kayak yesterday at local sporting goods store moving sale - great price. Will post pics of everything as soon as I get caught up. ;)

Carol, I wish I could have met you too. Left it til too late and then had no computer access. I will be back though because we didn't see nearly enough of the park. Gorgeous place.

Kellie....How did you find a computer place to check out your computer for free? How great is that that it was only a faulty cord and someone had one for you?! I love FREE!!! Congrats on your "new" Jeep and new kayak!

Hi Kellie! Good to see you are back in business with your computer! And congrats on your new vehicle and kayak! It seems many of us are going into the kayaking mode lately. I have yet to get my canoe out of the cellar, and the summer is half over....must put that on the list of "to-dos" for today!

Good to hear from you Kellie and glad someone is getting to camp. It's just too hot here to do anything. Our outside thermometer says 105.

Soos, maybe we all need to pool our $$ and buy a CG next to a serene lake and we'll become a commune!

Believe me, that thought has occurred to me way more than once as I get older and still wish to do all that I love to do outdoors. A (tongue-in-cheek) Senior Commune would be just the ticket so we could sort of keep tabs on one another!

I don't know why the computer place didn't charge me. It only took the guy a few seconds, maybe that's why. I was going to buy the new cord from him but it didn't come in and I was tired of waiting.

Well, that is great PR! I'm all about that. That is how I treated my patients and what goes around definitely comes around ;) Fairness and honesty sometime seem to be things of the past. That guy is hopefully smart enough to know that you will come back and also tell your friends.

I love the idea of buying an RV park! I don't have any money, but I would love to work there!

Didn't someone just post about an RV park in California that was selling $100 raffle tickets for it? It was being foreclosed on, so the owners decided to raffle it off in order to come up with enough money to pay off their mortgage. Maybe we should all pitch in $100 for raffle tickets and see if one of us wins it and then we could all take turns running it, etc.

Even Best Buy will sometimes look at your computer for no charge - at least 2 different ones have for me twice. The 2nd time they sold me a computer - but that was my choice. I actually went in to buy (but they didn't know that) - and took my dying one in. They checked out the dying one - so for several months I had 2 working computers. It's like repair folks - I also got some work done free on my rv at an rv repair shop once. I'd had other work done there (actually the place I like here in Guntersville) and they ordered and I bought a part from them - to install myself (well, a friend). We ran into a problem - needed something welded, if I remember correctly - and I brought the part and rv back to the shop and they did it - gratis. Only took them a few minutes, but I was surprised.

They came out on a service call since we were here - for Jean's rig. She only had to pay the service call. She also has a broken part on her fridge door - and I wanted some light covers. He called me when he got them in - I went and picked them up. Now that I know the exact part number, searched onine - and their price to me on the light covers was only 10 cents each higher than the best price I found online. Fun to find the places that aren't trying to rip me off.

Glad you found one, also, Kellie - and glad to hear from you!

Congratulations on the Jeep and Kayak Kellie! Does that mean Cap'n Eddy doesn't have to wait for a half an hour for us to blow up his vessel? lol And no more rental cars :) How kewl is that?

Enjoy them both :)

Love,
Sharon
