Broken air conditioner and the PA get2gether

Well, this has been a really tough week so far..... I had the air conditioning checked about a month ago and took the RV down to Cape May for the weekend and it was sooooo hot. So I returned it to the RV repair shop and they found a leak in the system. I wasn't concerned because I have a Good Sam extended warrantee plan. So I was really surprised when I received a call from the repair shop telling me that Good Sam told them the air conditioning isn't covered. So, I called them and pointed out that in the paperwork I had, that Air Conditioning was covered! Tomorrow, a rep from Good Sam will inspect the air conditioner and decide whether they will honor their warrantee. I was told that it will take 3 days once they order it to come in and that it probably wouldn't be here by the weekend.

So it looks like if I'm to get to Gettysburg, it will have to be later in the week. I regret that I won't be able to be there on Sunday but without air conditioning I don't think I can make through the night.

BTW does anyone else have a extended warrantee with Good Sam? It was highly recommended and I'm disapointed that at the first time I need it they are considering not honoring it.

I had it for one year - they covered both my fridge and microwave that I replaced. I think, like all insurance plans, they need to be nudged sometimes. I HATE insurance of all kinds - they have all failed me at some time or another - that said, they have also saved me.

Hope you can get it fixed and GS to cover like they should. And that you can still get to that gtg at least for awhile. Dang problems like these, anyway!

If my original waranty has expired on my trailer, will Good Sam extend another (new) waranty? And which Good Sam number should I call to ask about that, does anyone know? If I decide to keep this trailer rather than trade again for another, I will need some sort of insurance to cover stuff and things that can go bad or wrong.

Soos, depending upon the cost of the extended stuff....you take that money and you put aside for "self" insurance..... It is money or money... Either way something can gt fixed..

I do like Tina does - put aside for things that can go bump in the night. But all you have to do is call Good Sam's at any # and I'm sure they'll give you the answers to what it would cost to extend your warranty. The year I got my extended warranty - was because I pretty much knew my fridge was going - and I figured out the costs, etc. Only saved myself a couple hundred dollars - but hey - that's savings. Every other year that I've had this - the warranty would have cost me way more than what I've spent on things.

I'm bringing along some Maryland Crab soup for one of our evening meals. I also plan on making some beef bar-b-que. Not sure what Lori has planned to cook but the Sultan does usually prepare a meal for us (cause he likes to cook and share!). Lori, I'll also plan on bringing along some hot dogs in case we want to roast wieners over a fire (if it isn't too dang hot to have a fire!).

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and to getting away from "it all" for a few days! Of course, I'm bringing "it all" with me...LOL Bailey, Fred and Elvis. So, I guess there is no getting away from "it all". Ha

I really dislike the extended warranties. I have found that companies will always try to find a way to not cover you. Had this happen after I bought my house. The previous owners arranged to have the EW put in my name for a year as part of the sale. Had some plumbing problems and the company would not cover it because there was already a repair for plumbing. I was calling for a re-do of that repair. Took awhile to get it all straightened out. Will not get another one. I will do as Tina and Beth do and put some money into a separate account for when needed. This was you can use the repair service of your choice. Hope your AC gets fixed soon. Linda

Well, I usually don't do an extended warrantee as I have been in the car industry for years and I agree that normally they are a waste of money, but I realized that if there were going to be problems with the RV I would find them this year. Good Sam has finally agreed to replace the outside unit with a 1500 unit (have a 1300) but will not pay the $75 for the inside unit because it isn't compatible with the replacement and it is considered an upgrade even though whatever unit I put on top would not be compatible.So as of now I'm about $300 ahead with the warrantee but I had to fight for it.

I'm hoping to make it down to Gettysburg by Wednesday, Tuesday may be possible but I will have a better feel once we know when the unit will be at the repair shop. I had my 2nd knee replacement April 15th and I have been trying to gain flexibility and have hit a wall with that, so I hope to be able to get around without too much discomfort. How many people will be at the get together? I want to bring food to contribute. I will be bringing the ex with me as well because of the knees. I haven't given much thought to what I will be bringing so if anyone has thoughts please let me know, other then a I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and picking your brain about travels you have been on.

Well, Its been almost 8 days now that I have been shuffling the RV between the repair shop and the audio shop. I'm getting broke each day as the install of the gps stereo system broke the bank. That being said I couldn't afford the TV install. Now the repair shop is working on the air conditioning and I'm told that I can pick it up sometime tomorrow. I'm thinking that I will be getting on the road sometime on Wednesday. I bringing the ex with me. I'm also bringing spaghetti and meatballs and marinated chicken. Hope to get there before you do the tour but will be happy to share the food and drink with your experienced RVers.

Can you give me the name of the camp ground again? I looked at it but don't remember the website. I am hoping that we get off by 2 pm tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting everyone and having a working air conditioning and an in dash gps to learn on our way to Gettysburg. I can't wait to get on the road!

Pat, Vickie gave you a good link to all the directions and maps to the campground.....it's listed in the Get Together Section....but the name of the campground is Cole Bros./Conewago Campground.....1507 Narrows Road, Biglerville, PA...17307....this address you can enter in your GPS. If you need to contact us, PM me and I'll give you our cell phone number.....There isn't a website for this campground that I know of.....but it is listed on Yellow Book...and can be Googled....okay, am looking forward to see you....drive safe and see ya' tomorrow.
