Earthquake!

Postby sharon » Wed Jul 07, 2010 7:17 pm

Had a 5.4 earthquake here today. Had a pretty good jolt and then about 2 or 3 seconds later another big one. Went on for about 20 seconds more but felt more like 30 or 40. Everything in the house shook pretty good, could hear the china rattling, but nothing broke or came off the walls. Epicenter in Borrego Springs about 150 miles from here as the crow flies.

Holy Cow, Sharon! I'm glad you're okay. And your house and stuff.
You can't have issues and not come to the AR GTG because I'm still trying to find Jewish Apples...

Living in California before I retired is where I learned about Museum putty or what we Californians called "Earthquake putty." Works great in the RV. I actually travel with a couple of my Indian pots on a shelf.

You're arriving home made the earth shake? OMG, I knew you were one powerful woman, but didn't know the extreme. I'll tread very lightly when we next see each other :)

No big deal, I'm used to them. The only issue I have lives in Rialto and I still can't get a straight answer out of him if he's coming or not. Barring anything major, I WILL be there and there had better be Jewish Apple Cake!!

Holy cow, Sharon! That's about 135 miles from home for me! I'm up here in Long Beach, WA and totally oblivious to what's going on in the world. I'll be calling home soon to see how things are there. I'm sure we felt it.

Yup, I've used that stuff, I have a piece of pottery on the wall that is anchored with it. (the pottery, not the wall Vickie!)

Karen, are you still in Silver City? I'll either be going out the 10 or coming back that way and would like to collect my Flamingo glass!! We haven't heard much from you since you posted about the electric problem, so didn't know if you had decided to heck with it and gone back to Tx.

Well, if it's only about 135 miles from your house I guess I'm closer than 150 miles 'cause I'm a lot farther south than you are!!

Sharon, I thought you were closer than that too. It was centered in Borrego Springs just NW of the Salton Sea, and that isn't that far from away from you, right?

Edit: Just read that it was 28 miles south of Palm Springs so it was closer to you than 150 miles.

I think it would be great if she could just come on over to the AR GTG and meet everybody! :D
