Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

OK, I didn't take pics in Fredericksburg - but at least when we took a drive to Enchanted Rock - my g/f's hubby had his camera with and shot a few for me.

And we stopped just down the road to take a pic of this BIG guy:
Unfortunately, we just drove by and stopped for a moment- I do want to go back sometime and look closer. The history of it is really neat, too.

Wow beth,...that's a strange looking rock. do you think that might be an ancient lava dome? Very interesting!

Oops, thought I said - that is granite. Doesn't look the same before it's cut and polished, does it?

ok,..... the Adirondacks are granite based. Of course worn smooth by glaciers eons ago.

This hike has been on my list for several years! Maybe at the TX gtg? Thanks Beth for posting the great pictures.

Did someone say hike? Roe and I are in. Interesting picture, Beth. Reminds me of Stone Mt., GA, except no carvings in yours.

I thought of you and Roe when that pic was taken - and now with Diana interested also - we'll have to make a trip over there - it's close.
