Hi, seems like I remember someone who stayed in an ok place in Van Horn TX. I searched and looks like Birdie may have been in the same place I was my last time through.....Mt View. If it's the only choice I will go there again, but am wondering if anybody has a recommendation for another campground or rv park?

I've never stayed in Van Horn, I don't think. Last time through that way I was with Sparkle and we jumped up to Guadalupe NP and stayed there.

I either stay at the Eagles nest RV Park or at a rest stop. I usually stay at Exit 144 rest stop. Eagles Nest is at Exit 138.

I won't stop at Mountain View again. I had to move to find working electric. Next time I need to stop there, I'll do the KOA. I had some friends stop and they highly recommended it. One thing about KOA, you can be pretty sure that you will have a decent campground.

I have stayed at Balmorehea State Park. That is between Ft. Stockton and the I-10/I-20 merge area. It has w/e with a dump station. Has a natural water area for swimming. Rates were good, too.

Let's keep in touch and maybe we can do lunch or dinner somewhere between Las Cruces and Tucson. Karen, retiredhappy, and I are doing lunch on June 10th in Deming. I have to be in Las Cruces the 11th. Will be either in Paradise or Tucson the following week.

Drive carefully and remember Ft. Stockton will have the highest priced gas in Texas. Las Cruces the cheapest at the Motel exit, Pilot, or ??. Fill up in Lordsburg before you go into Arizona as AZ will have really high gas prices - at least that is the way it used to be.

Oh, Nancy, this is one time I'll disagree with you. I find, with KOA, that most of them are bad (or if not bad, not up to par for their prices). The good ones are the exception. Yes, there are good ones, but not many anymore. Their reputation has really gone downhill. That said, if you've had luck with them, go for it. I'd rather stay in a loud truck stop than at most KOA's. My experience :) (And a reason why many KOA's are being purchased and then removed from the KOA system).
