Hey ladies, just wanted to check in since I haven't even browsed much lately. Started work for Census bureau and it's not many hours per week but very scattered. Nice for me but between normal chores and yard work and that it's kind of chopped up days. Plus younger son home from college for summer. His GF comes over in the evenings and they watch TV or movies and commandeer the laptop at the same time (his is ALL the WAY UPSTAIRSin his room). Seems like I'm just too tired to make a fuss about it - who knew working so few hours would be so tiring? Of course, this is the "busy season" for yard work too, with planting, renewing mulch, fertilizing, killing dandelions etc but that is almost done too.
Last year when I went to TX etc I had the wind catch my awning near amarillo and do some damage and also had the rear corner of the MH catch on something, branch? and pull siding a little from frame. Anyway, someone (from forum maybe?) suggested that my insurance might cover it so I called my agent and he told me to get an estimate $1400 something. Claim center called and said there would be $250 deductible for rear corner damage and $100 for awning and wanted adjustor to take photos. Met him over at storage one day so he could do so and he said the corner damage didn't appear to be from collision. Few days later got check for $1300 something. Woo Hoo!! By reporting them together, they only applied deductible once and both fell under "comprehensive" coverage so only one deductible of $100. Will take rig to RV dealer/svc center tomorrow to start repairs. 2010 has been a good year for me for insurance!
Went for semi annual check with dermatologist (had melanoma on back 18 months ago) and found new spot, also in mid back. Was removed and "just a mole" so that is great news. However, health insurance considers that a "surgical Procedure" so $505 of negotiated fee goes to $750 deductible so I get to pay it all.
Been debating pros and cons of towing behind rig, trading for something towable, what to do, dollars etc. Talked to my mom a month ago and they are finally selling their MH (her companion is 83 and has NO business driving at all, much less a 30' MH with toad) Anyway, they will make me a "good deal" on tow bar and brake buddy so that helped with decision making. Just need base plate and transmission pump on my car and I'm ready to go.
MyDS wanted me to tke him on trip this summer but he and GF both have jobs so wanted to be no more than one days's drive time. Decided on St Louis in mid August (when they can get vacation) We debated about renting car, vs driving mine separately (actually cheaper option, believe it or not) but found an RV park right downtown for easy access to all the attractions so may not even worry about trying to take another car.In September I plan to head up to NY state to see new great nephew and niece and tour New England a bit also for 3 weeks or so. A little long, but thought you all might want to knowwhat I've been up to.
