Visit with my Daughter!

Postby BarbaraRose » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:40 pm

I got to see my daughter, Naomi, today for our annual visit! She is getting so grown up! Still her sweet, funny, goofy self tho! We met at an indoor park (luckily, since it was cold and rainy today, altho that just made it more crowded with kids). We met for about 3 hours and she played on the huge jungle gym thing (not sure what they call it) and hung out with us (me, her parents and my dad) for awhile, and spent some time in the gymnasium there. I got to ask her lots of questions about what she is doing nowdays, and what she likes in school, etc. She is very receptive to me so I am pretty sure she knows that I am her birthmom now altho she hasn't mentioned it.
I found out that she is learning 3 languages in school, Spanish, French and Chinese! She is taking guitar lessons now (hopefully will do better than I did at that!), going back into English horseback riding lessons this summer (I did that at her age too, so very happy about that!), taking golf lessons, loves gymnastics, and swimming (they have a pool in their back yard). They went skiing in Utah this winter which she loved, and just got back from Florida where they went to Disney World and Discovery Cove. They brought some photos of her swimming with the dolphins. I asked for copies of some of those pics, so hopefully they will send them to me! So she has a very well-rounded life and is very happy, which makes me very happy! She loved the books I gave her, one of which was a little book about English riding instructions, written from a horse's perspective with adorable cartoon illustrations!
So, all in all, it was a very good visit! The only down-side is that I now have to wait a whole 'nother year to see her again!

Here are some pics I took...

You have a beautiful, happy, lucky little daughter who seems to have the best of two worlds----a birthmom who loves her dearly, and, by the looks of the pictures, two adoptive parents who think the world rises and sets on her pretty little face! I am so happy to see those, Barbie! You are all very lucky to have each other, although I am sure it seems a long time between visits. How nice that your dad, her grandfather, was there also. Thank you so much for sharing this very poignant time with us. How I would have loved to have seen my daughter when she was that age. But I have her now, so I should be happy for that!

Thanks for sharing the day - and I'm so happy it went so well. I also know it must have been soooooo hard to leave when the time came. My heart goes out to you waiting another year to do this again. But oh, yes, she looks like you - she looks so happy - and she has what sounds to be a wonderful life. And YOU gave that to her. Be proud of yourself.

Wow.... What a beautiful daughter! So glad you had such a wonderful time.

I started to cry when I saw your pics.... I'm adopted, and have been searching for my birthmom/birth family for over 8 years now. I've had search specialists working on my case, with no luck. It's become pretty obvious after all this time that no one's looking for me, and with NJ being a closed adoption state, information is nearly impossible to come by, so it doesn't look like meeting my family is in the cards for me---though I pray about it daily. So glad that you are able to visit with your daughter and be there for her when she has the questions to eliminate the endless wondering and "whys" that adoptees have. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
