I see they're going to announce the Jackpot amount on Tuesday, April 27th...that's my day! Now if the ice will just hold until then....they're predicting a breakup over the weekend.

They used to do something like that on Lake Minnetonka but with a car on the ice. They stopped doing it since it was considered "littering" the lake, even tho they pulled the car out after it fell thru. But it was always fun to look forward to! Good luck girls!

Liz, I have a time on 4/29 and another on 5/4 - course it's not good enough just to get the day - have to get the TIME. hahaha - But, it's fun to watch. And wow, if they are predicting this weekend - if so, that will be one of the very early years.

They have a contest like this in Saranac Lake each spring, with an Adirondack chair on the ice. People bet on and buy tickets for the date they expect the chair to sink through! This is easily retrievable, as it floats!

Thanks for posting the results, Beth, I have been curious about it, no tickets though. As we were driving off, I wished I had at least one, but I got distracted before buying in the store there and then it slipped my mind , that happens and this time saved me money, I think
Sorry neither one of you had any luck though, was fun and thanks for posting the link, Liz, as I did go back and look at the pics, all it did was make me so glad I had had the opportunity to go and wish I was there now!!!!

Gosh, that reminds me of my trip to Alaska in 2000. We crossed the Roberterson River on June 16 (my birthday by theway) and there was still ice floating in the river yet.
