Sick as a Dog

Just as I'm settling in with my summer job I get really sick, think food poisoning. Why do people say "sick as a dog?" My dogs were just fine. anyway, I woke up with a bad charley horse and leaped out of bed to stand on it. Felt really woosey so headed to kitchen to check my blood sugar. Standing at kitchen sink then next thing I remember is looking up at my dogs licking my face. Had fainted! Never fainted in my life before. Blood sugar fine, made it back to bed but spent rest of night hanging onto my commode off and on. Called owners at 7:30 saying wouldn't be working today. JR, another workamper came up to walk my dogs (first time I've EVER been too sick to at least take them outside the RV. If I hadn't been so sick, I'd have died laughing. I'm used to walking 3 dogs and keeping their leashes fairly untangled. The dogs wound him up in the leashes so he could hardly move then sat down and just looked at him cause he wasn't "walking" them. I spent the next two days drinking water. Now why is it when a man doesn't eat he loses five pounds and when a woman doesn't eat she loses one pound? Life is so unfair. Long story short, I've rejoined the living and I'm one pound lighter.

Oooohhhh, poor you! Am so sorry you felt so sick, but very thankful that when you fainted, you didn't knock your head or break something. Very scary, not to mention very awful to feel so sick all night.

For your information, that is NOT the way to lose a pound!

I was wondering what happened to you, Karen. Sorry it was sickness and glad you're back. That fainting was a scary thing.

karen, so sorry to hear you've been so ill. As others said, the fainting was scary, so glad you didn't hit something falling. Glad you're feeling better,

Carol

Wow Karen, that could have been a really bad situation. I'm glad everything worked out good and hey a pound is a pound, but not the recommended weight loss program.

All of which brings up a question....do you have your emergency info posted on your refrigerator or other conspicuous place, in case you are unconscious and unable to give it to paramedics? Anyone living alone should do this. Here's a link about that:

Oh Karen, that is so scary. I'm glad you're on the up side of that now.

As an aside, I can't imagine anything worse that having to urp in an RV commode. Yeeechhhth.

So glad you're feeling better - and sorry you had to be sick at all. That's no fun. Loved the image of the dogs - thanks for that giggle.

Whew - so sorry about your illness but really glad to read you are doing better now.
Dogs are well trained to wake mommy up if she falls on the floor :P ; now you need to teach one of them to call 911.

Liz, good point. During the day I actually wear a small flash drive that has all my medical info; doctor, meds, etc but I don't wear it at night.

I wasn't out very long and yes, did hit back of my but since its not too sore, I guess not very hard. Lesson learned: If you feel faint, put head between knees QUICKLY. Dogs were actually pretty happy since I stayed in bed with them for almost 48 hours except to feed them. Friend walked them. They have a tough life. Nice part about living in an RV nothing is very far away: commode, bed, sofa, etc. Is kinda of a worry when you live alone, huh?

yes,... one of the reasons my friend Kathy and I have decided to share this house. As well as the financial benefits for both of us. Again,... glad you are ok! :D
