Hiya travel pals! I am wondering what exciting plans y'all have for the summer travel/work season. For me, I will be heading home to CA via a camping trip through the Four Corners/maybe southern Utah area with a friend and my step sister. We all turned 60 within a few weeks this year and this trip is to celebrate that milestone! After that I have a few days reserved at Bodega Bay Dunes campground in early July. And am hoping to do at least some day hikes in Yosemite backcountry. Those may involve a couple days camping for each IF there are any cancellations for sites.
I know several have been posting about summer plans all ready, but I hope you will recap here. It's inspiring to all to read about the adventures planned. (And, of course, my thoughts and prayers are with those who won't be on the road this year).
Looking forward......

For us it's bluegrass festivals and MORE bluegrass festivals!
But first Amelia goes camping Memorial Day Weekend not far from home for a shakedown cruise. Bluegrass in early June, then camping on the St.Lawrence River, (Coles Creek SP) right after school is out, then more bluegrass, the Ruckus in the Mountains at Soosie's, more bluegrass,... and ooops,. it's September. Most campgrounds close right after Labor Day. We'll see what happens then for fall camping.
Amelia is my 2010 Rockwood,...named in honor of Amelia Earhart, ... and there is a bluegrass song about her too.
AMELIA EARHART’S LAST FLIGHT
A SHIP OUT ON THE OCEAN, JUST A SPECK AGAINST THE SKY,
AMELIA EARHART FLYING THAT SAD DAY;
WITH HER PARTNER, CAPTAIN NOONAN, ON THE SECOND OF JULY
HER PLANE FELL IN THE OCEAN, FAR AWAY.
CHORUS:
THERE'S A BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL FIELD
FAR AWAY IN A LAND THAT IS FAIR.
HAPPY LANDINGS TO YOU, AMELIA EARHART
FAREWELL, FIRST LADY OF THE AIR.
SHE RADIOED POSITION AND SHE SAID THAT ALL WAS WELL,
ALTHOUGH THE FUEL WITHIN THE TANKS WAS LOW.
BUT THEY'D LAND ON HOWLAND ISLAND TO REFUEL HER MONOPLANE,
THEN ON THEIR TRIP AROUND THE WORLD THEY'D GO.
CHORUS:
WELL, A HALF AN HOUR LATER AN SOS WAS HEARD,
THE SIGNAL WEAK, BUT STILL HER VOICE WAS BRAVE.
OH, IN SHARK-INFESTED WATERS HER PLANE WENT DOWN THAT NIGHT
IN THE BLUE PACIFIC TO A WATERY GRAVE.
WELL, NOW YOU'VE HEARD MY STORY OF THAT AWFUL TRAGEDY,
WE PRAY THAT SHE MIGHT FLY HOME SAFE AGAIN.
OH, IN YEARS TO COME THOUGH OTHERS BLAZE A TRAIL ACROSS THE SEA,
WE'LL NE'ER FORGET AMELIA AND HER PLANE.
CHORUS:

Well, as for me, I will be working my seasonal job at Otsego Lake State Park. Am hoping to do some camping once in awhile on my days off, but first I have to have the camper. May not be in the works this year, will have to wait and see if something shows up. Otherwise, I plan a lot of little day trips here and there, the usual yard work, housework (sometimes I have to ge
after the dust bunnies!) and whatever else comes up. Maybe a tall ship sail (just a couple hour cruise). I'm always looking for something to get into.

As I purchased my MH last Fall, I haven't had much of a chance to 'spread my wings', so as the weather improves I am going to start checking some campgrounds in SW WA within 150 radius from home. First some on the coast, and then some inland hopefully with forests and trails to explore.

we left Quartzsite AZ late March went to NV for a family reunion left there went to Kanab UT then into New Mexico had some troubles with the hitch so when we got it worked out and hitched up we boogied to Iowa where we were going to spend a couple of weeks visiting family and friends...didn't unhitched till we got there found out that it wasn't as bad as thought so we breathed a sigh of relief and enjoyed our stay...left there Tues of this week to head back to Utah to see our children and grand children there then on to ID to see a couple of children and grandchildren there and then to Island Park ID to work camp we will be at Upper Coffee Pot campground if anyone is in the area this is about 25 miles south of West Yellowstone. DH will have to have some drs appointments like we are thinking one with his urologist. we think he will say it's cured guys see you in a year! So hopefully this year we will get to see stuff we wanted to and didn't get to last year...

Looks like a great camping area. I bookmarked it as I may be coming through that area on my trip to the PNW.

I'm saving my money this summer so I can travel instead of work next summer. I'm thinking of following Liz around the country since she always finds such interesting places to go and I haven't been home to the PNW since 1960's and I've never been to the east coast. Anybody else want to caravan with us?

Hi,
Almost there, if you find some great campgrounds in Washington, send me a PM with their names so I can make a list for Next Spring when hubby and I will be taking the "big loop" and going to drag tag a long to Washington to visit with Candi and Rob. They will be moving to Seattle in June, so gonna just let them spend some time getting settled and familiar with their new home before decending on them. Of course, mama will probably fly up a couple weeks before thanksgiving. Hate to fly on holidays.

Oregonluvr and I are leaving next week for the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, Arches and Canyonlands. We also hope to see Death Valley on the way back. It should be a great road trip. Its a car trip this time since we want to see so much and only have a little over 2 weeks to do it. We'll try to post as we go in case someone is in the vicinity.

Wow Liz!! You are gonna be putting some serious miles on this summer! Sounds like a great trip! I can't wait til I can get an RV and start traveling. Might be awhile tho. I want to get settled in California first, get a decent job and then maybe buy a small camper for short trips. If my dad decides to sell his house (or we have to sell it for him), I will eventually get my third of it and will have enough to buy a nice rig and travel full-time for awhile. The house is already in my and my brothers' names so it won't be an ordeal to get my share of it eventually. But that could be awhile. My dad is 84 going on 60, so he'll be around for a long time yet and has no intention of selling the house anytime soon! Gotta make my own way for now!
I would like to take a couple little trips this summer. Maybe one trip up north to my cousins resort and stay in my mom's old cabin, and then one down to Iowa to visit Linda and maybe stop to see some relatives down there as well. That will depend on my income, and job situation, which are both precarious right now!

Our big trip this year is to Glacier National Park. Then we have several smaller trips planned/thought about.
Leavenworth, Whidbey...haven't figured out any Aug trips yet.
We may get in a few more. This is DS first year playing baseball on a select team and they do several tournaments. We only have the first half schedule, they are close, but our thought is if any are further away we would take the trailer for the weekend...but that will also depend on how soon the new window comes in.

My younger son and his GF want me to take them somewhere for a week or so - they have never actually traveled with me although they did fly to San antonio last yeear and spend a week with me there. We're thinking St Louis but it's not in stone yet. I September I am definitely going to NY to see my new great-nephew and my great niece who is 2 already. While I'm there I hope to also hit VT, NH, maybe Maine, MA and some other New England states.

Don't forget Cedar and me here in the heart of the Adirondacks of NY State! We can show you are beautiful places and share some neat campfires----maybe even some recipe!
