So, have had a busy week so far...Before we left the Ft. Fisher/Wilmington, NC area, Ernie & I did some sight-seeing and of course went out to lunch for my Birthday.....
The USS North Carolina at Wilmington
Image
While there, the Peacemaker, Tall Ship was in port...took a tour and photos..
Image
That was Monday....on Tuesday, we went to Old Ft. Fisher....lots of Civil War History about the fort..most of it is now under water, but some of the battlements still stand...
Image
Then it was out to Lunch for my Birthday, a day early, as we were leaving the next day for VA.
Image
And now, we're all set up at Lunga Park on the Quantico Marine Corps Base, VA....Nice campground with views of a large lake.

Us and the MH are the only ones here right now....the sites a clumped in 2 or 3s, with tenting spread widely in between....lots of wild life, i.e. deer, and wild geese...etc.
Our view out the window...

Tomorrow we're going to tour the Marine Corps Museum and then have supper with family friends here at the campground...we'll be here until Monday, when we head to the "home base campground" for the summer...

Enjoy!!!

A beautaiful site. And also sight. Nice to see such nice green grass and leafed out trees. Here I have green grass but no leaves on trees yet. Makes me want to go get outdoors. Great pictures.

I love the view of the water. Looks like a wonderful place to sit a while and just soak in the sounds of spring.

What a nice trip you all had, I remember going to see the USS North Carolina. I was chaperon to a bunch of ROTC girls. It was very interesting, but I found out, I sure wouldn't have wanted to be one of the sailors on it. Those hammocks for beds, swaying, I would have been sick all of the time  I have thoroughly enjoyed your trip, makes me want to travel that area again, you've shown me so many things, I went on by.

Your cake has me wanting chocolate, it really looked good, I could have done without your description, my mouth was watering. This is from a person, who only craves chocolate occasionally. Something I don't need right now, so Thanks Lori :D

For a lady who had another birthday, you sure looked great in that picture, love that color blouse on you.

Thanks for taking us on your trip, I have really enjoyed it. Love your water site too, my favorite kind.

Safe and Happy travels,
CArol

Looks like a wonderful, peaceful place to stay! I grew up on a bay like that. Nice and quiet! So pretty! Sounds like you have had a nice little vacation so far. Glad you had a nice birthday as well!
