ok, so heres the thing,
when I was at the store I saw a display of "peel-off masque" and I fell for
the advertisement and bought it. I have never done a masque before and
quite frankley, I can't even read the directions. Very small print and I can't
find my magnifying glass! Oh well, so with a little help from the internet
I go onto their website and still there's no directions but I did look up and
read a few reviews. So I guess you just smear it on with your fingers and
let it dry for twenty minutes and then just peel it off.
One review said it burned as it dried so that kind of scares me, I mean
really, what sane person would put this on their face knowing its gonna
feel like fire?
It was cheap enough, a dollar something, so no big deal if I chicken out
and don't use it but I was wondering if any of you ladies have ever done
a masque peel thing.
I feel like there are a few rough patches on my face I'd kind of like to
get rid of and I found myself eyeballing my pumice stone I use on my
feet and I don't think I'm gonna do a face peel today. maybe
tomorrow, maybe not.

I'm not so sure I'd want the "burning" sensation. I've done peel off masques years ago, but no burning. They turned to rubbery substance and just peeled off in large pieces taking surface "stuff" I think it was either Avon or Mary Kay brand years ago. I do remember that my face felt nice and clean afterward.

I don't know what type skin you have, but for me I rarely can use much on my face because of burning etc. I've tried every brand make up there is from Bobbie Brown & Clinique to Cover Girl and L'loreal. I even got some make up sold at a dermotoligist, and no go. I do use a moisturizer by Obagi on my face every morning and that along with the Dove exfoliating pillows seems to work for me. They are oval pads filled with soap and one side is rough. I use to be able to get them anywhere, then only at Walgreens, and now I can't find them at all. I bought up all they had the last tiime I found them at Walgreens. I'm in a panic as to what I'll do now.

Ava, first you want to try a "patch test" . Put a little bit in the most sensitive area on your face (cheek). just a tiny bit (1 sq inch), leave it on until it drys and take it off. See what your skin there feels and looks like. If it is sore or very red, don't use it again. If it feels OK and is pink and soft, go ahead.and try it all over (stay away from the eye area tho). Always do a patch test when using new products/chemicals on your skin. Some people are very sensitive and or allergic to things in certain products. Gotta be careful! If it was cheap, then there probably aren't any real harsh chemicals in it. Face masks are usually pretty mild as they more rely on sticking to the surface of the skin to pull off any dead skin cells. Chemical peels are stronger and use acid-like chemicals to actually burn the top layer of skin off. Those are usually a lot more expensive and you are better off (safety-wise) to get that done by a professional. You look like you have fair skin which is usually more sensitive so you need to be careful what you use. The best way to go would be to use a mild ex-foliating scrub/cleanser and a wash cloth to wash your face every day. That will do a great job of getting rid of the dead skin cells and stimulating the blood and oils in your skin to soften the skin and make it look healthier and younger. And a daily moisturizer would be helpful too (with sunscreen of course!). I think the best skin care products over the counter are Olay products. They are very good and also affordable. Professional products work great but are extremely expensive and Olay has been tested and compares as good if not better than many of the expensive brands.

I love Oil of Ol'Lady products! I switched from Dove bar soap to Oil of Olay and couldn't believe the difference in my skin.

I like Oil of Olay too. I call it "Oil of Delay".....

Thanks Barb, its not suppose to have anything harsh in it but doing something new
is always scary. I'll do a patch test for sure and see what happens.

Oil of Olay makes a bar soap? I don't like using body bath soaps. I feel I waste too much.

Yes they make a bar soap in a few different varieties. I'll bet if you try it you'll really like it. First time that I used it we were camping and my son had taken the shower bag and then left it in his car and took off. I wanted to take a shower and had no soap so a lady we were with gave me her soap...couldn't believe how great it was and asked her what it was. She's one of these people who always has the best of the best and I was sure it was going to be something that was $10 a bar! I'm so hooked on the stuff that the beginning of March I had to go to a conference and I forgot to pack it....drove all the way across town to Wally World to buy a bar so I didn't feel like my skin was two sizes too small the next day! Hotel soap is always nasty stuff!

Soos, Petroleum is not good for your skin or your health (see info below...). Switch to a more natural product for moisturizing. Aloe vera is very good and very healing especially for burns and swelling. Aveeno has oatmeal in it which is great for itchy skin.
