If you can check this soon (its 3:24 central time) Lily's cub is out side the den trying to walk. So cute!!
http://www.bear.org/website/lily-a-hope ... n-cam.htmlNow mom came back because baby was crying, and she bumped the camera so now you can't see much, but it was so adorable! She got her front legs to work but her back legs wouldn't cooperate so she was just going in circles and getting very frustrated! Funny! ... Sounds like she is nursing now. It is so cool to watch nature up close and personal!

I just was watching this episode, and it kept me transfixed for a long time! When I was a little girl and wondering about wild bears, I would have done anything to have been able to sit in my living room and watch what goes on inside a wild bear's den! I never cease to be awed about modern technology that allows my world to expand and me to become more knowledgeable about our wild creatures.
By the way, Lily was outside the den, and little Hope was trying out her legs inside the empty den. Lily won't allow her outside yet, and for very good reason---her legs don't work right yet! Lily (Mom) kept returning to reassure Hope when she screeched loudly that she was close by, and that seemed to pacify Hope for a while longer. Each day, Lily is leaving her now for a short while, and Hope is becoming stronger and stronger. The videos on that website that have been edited and labeled with notations are neat to watch, and shows how much progress Hope has made since she was born. I can hear her purring sounds at night (in my head) when I am going to sleep, and thinking how wonderful it would be if human babies made such a happy sound when they were nursing! Our world never ceases to stun me with what goes on that I still have to learn about.

Just wanted to add an update.
I just went to check on Lily and her cub and the first change is you now have to sit through a video ad. Then when the cam started up it looked like the camera got moved as the shot was only half on the den hole. Next I heard, what at first I thought was the bear snoring, but it was too rapid and continous. Not sure what's going on.

I think that rapid continuous sound is nursing. I hope they can reposition the camera soon.

I had been worried all afternoon as the den has been empty since late morning, so I was VERY happy just now when Lily got Hope back into the den before dark somehow. The camera got all discombobulated when Lily raked the brush into the end of the tube, it looked like. Although it's not focused in the best spot now, at least you can see something! Also, I was never so happy to hear Hope making her nursing/purring sounds! Now I can go to bed knowing they are both safe and sound for the night! I am surprised Hope went outside the den today, as she really can't walk very well at all yet. Maybe Lily carried her out for the day....I wish I had been watching when they both left. Soon they will probably stay out of the den most of the time. I just love watching them!
