Caring Auto Dealer?
Posted: Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:41 amWe so often hear negatives about car dealers that I just wanted to share a pleasant experience I had with an auto dealership. Those of us who own Saturns because they are great toads all know the sinking feeling of Saturn going out of business and wondering how it will affect us. I received a recall notice and promptly made an appointment with my local Saturn dealer (which was still in business - still have new cars, repairs, etc). The day before my appointment, they told me they were now an Acura dealer and would no longer service Saturns! Nothing could be announced until the legal papers were signed that day. They suggested I use the Chevrolet dealership across the street from now on.
When I called the Chevy dealer, they knew it was coming sometime, but hadn't been officially notified yet. The Service Manager was taken by surprise, but made an appointment for the same time my appointment with Saturn had been the very next day. When I arrived, he joked that he'd probably be getting overwelmed with Saturn calls and better gear up. He had me wait 10 minutes while they checked to see if my car was one of those that would need the whole fuel pump replaced - it was. He asked me if I would like their shuttle to take me home or to the mall or wherever I wanted since it would be about 4 hours. I opted for the mall. As I got in their shuttle van, workers were putting up a sign over their bays "Welcome, Saturn Owners". I had a pleasant shopping trip and the shuttle picked me up again. Every one of the Chevy dealer's employees, from the Service Manager and shuttle drivers, on down to the guy who washed my car before giving it back to me said how happy they were to have me bring my car there. And, of course, it didn't cost anything because it was a recall. Almost makes me wish I'd bought a Chevy! It's nice to know my orphan car is welcome somewhere.

) I am soooo glad that you finally had a good experience!!! Just warms the cockles of my heart! Looking forward to seeing you on Friday! Trying to talk Miss Donna into taking off from work early and meeting us there. Thought I was going to have to delay our start time after I found out that Fri was Grandparents day at school, but it's over at noon, a quick trip to McDonalds with the crew and then I'm good to go! Been lifting a heavier weight at the gym with my right arm in preparation. Expect a new and improved Chewy when you get here...
