Catching Up

Postby sharon » Wed Feb 24, 2010 2:01 pm

I've been trying to catch up on posts.....sure is busy here and that's a good thing! Please forgive me if I don't reply to all of them, but know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you, along with smiles and laughter. Thought I would post some pictures of the King of the Hammers race. We were in Johnson Valley, near Lucerne, Ca for 10 days of dry camping and race watching. We were lucky enough to be camped with one of the racers, Tracy Jordon, and what fun that was watching his team get his buggy ready and test driving. We watched the race at the top of one of the canyons and for the life of me can't remember the name of it, but we've been up and down it several times in the BF's jeep. These guys run these canyons in minutes and it takes us hours to get up them. Amazing! Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of buggy's coming down the rocks:

I have pictures of us climbing a waterfall in the BF's jeep, but they are on a cd and I can't get them to download onto this 'pooter. I've tried everything and no go, darn it! I'm home for most of March, so I'll keep plugging away at it and see if I can get them on here. Here's the link for the Hammer's race, there's a pretty good video here that shows quite a bit of the race. It's the hardest desert race in the US.

Enjoy!

OMIGAWD, Sharon! I cannot IMAGINE a race such as this! If my son sees this, he will quit work, buy him a car, and try to enter this race! He has always pushed our off-road 4 wheelers to their maximum, until they fall apart---but, if he could see this kind of car and this kind of racing, he would never be satisfied with my trusty little sedate Kicker (Suzuki Sidekick) again! This video is incredible to me!

And you DO that??????

Unbelievable!

Happy travels!

Amazing....I could not do that, even in my younger years. Not sure I could even watch it. But I'm glad you had a great time.

Yeppers my David would be right in there!! He has a CJ5 that he use to 4 wheel with but has turned into a mud bog buggy. He has plans on turning his Blazer into something but not sure what. He just might end up going back to his CJ and turning it into a rock crawler like he had planned to. He's a real good one for pushing the edges of everything he can find. Buggys, motorcycles, rock climbing, parachuting, base jumping, etc, etc, ect. He scares me half to death. Other than the ones I gotten from age, I don't have to wonder where my white hair comes from!!! He's been doing it since he was little!!!

No, the BF has a jeep not a buggy, but he's looking for one now. And yes, we drive those canyons. Wish we had one of those buggies, it's a lot safer than doing it in a jeep, not as tippy. But it's fun. We went up that canyon in the pictures the day before the race looking for a good spot to watch from that was easy to get to. There are 7 or 8 rock canyons in that area that we play in regularly, probably 6 or 7 times a year. There's other areas here in SoCal that we go to also, that have rock canyons to play in. The one in the pictures is actually pretty mild compared to some of the others. Wish I could get these pictures I have loaded on the 'pooter. Anyone know anything about Windows 7????

FINALLY! Not sure at this point what I did, I ended up with the pictures on Windows Media Player, then had to send them to Documents and then was able to send them to my Pictures, but at least they're on here! These were taken at Superstition Mountain OHV area in January. This is the BF's jeep and we're going up a waterfall. He was able to crawl the whole thing without putting a winch on.

Cedar, have you tried to copy pictures off of a cd to the computer? And if so, how do you do it? My old Toshiba would just ask if I wanted to run or save. I finally got the pictures on, but had to put them on the dvd player and then to documents and then to pictures....what a PITA! Any ideas?

haven't had a reason to try that yet. can't you pick where they are saved to when you copy them off a dvd? hmmmmm...... i'll have to give that a try as a test.

glad to see your pics,... looks a little nerve-wracking to me,... I think I'd be too nervous. :o
