A couple more short trips from Aticama

One day we decided to drive up the mountain to visit the coffee plantations - well the road went from highway to this
to this - then we changed our mind and turned around - the plantations are up there somewhere
Another day we again drove up the mountain - this time on a real road - passed these fruit stands - remind me of still life pictures
The big green things are - according to the web - jack fruit - related to breadfruit. Here they are called Yaka - taste kind of like banana, pinapple, kiwi, strawberry - yep that's right all of them. But it goes bad really fast and then STINKS
We were on our way to the city of Tepic - saw this on a wall while there - about 8 feet tall - no reason for it to be there that we could see. Depicts the HuicholIndians
As I mentioned in the last post we went looking for Huichol art - well we found it in Tepic
One of the men - all clothes are hand embroidered
Another man - they do the bead work and embroidering as well as the women
One of the women
Lots of stuff for sale - beaded stuff - pictures made with thread/yarn, jewelry and dolls
Bought a couple of these - they are made with yarn pressed into bees wax
Their work is incredible. Will add some of their beadwork later.
