Need info about housing in Seattle

I am going to put this in a discussi0on of its own. I would appreciate any information you can give me about neighborhoods in Seattle. As Candi and Rob will be moving there bline (never been there) and I am sure like all large cities that there are some neighborhoods that they shouldn' be living in.

Can only give you my opinion in that I don't feel the Tacoma area is very safe as there are lots of gangs. My son was based at McChord AFB there for almost 7 yrs. and my DIL worked at the Tacome Mall. When she worked nights she always had the security guard walk her to her car. A few years after she quit there was a shooting spree inside the mall. The base is right along interstate 5 and during the night they could hear gun shots from the interstate and nearby. This was over 10 yrs ago and I'm assuming it hasn't gotten any better as we also recently heard about the 4 police officers getting gunned down while sitting in a restaurant and another cop or two has lost their lives in the very recent past. There are some surrounding towns that are very swanky and upscale. A few other members live on the outskirts of Seattle so hopefully they will chime in.
