Tomoka State Park Day 2
Posted: Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:48 pm
Morning sun over the Halifax River/Intracoastal. Boy scouts checking out the river.
Most of the day was taken up in a regional meeting for State Park volunteers/Citizen Support Organizations. It was a chance to meet people from many state parks in the district and add many places to my list. That nice lady waving is the one who talked me into volunteering. She’s camped next to me and we’ll go kayaking together tomorrow. Trying to talk her into joining the forum.
Remember being in school on a beautiful day and all you could do is look out the window and think about what you could be doing? A lot of the meeting was like that…talking about budgets, state regulations and such. I did learn a lot about how the organization functions though.
After the meeting, park rangers gave us a tour of the park. You already had a better tour yesterday.
When the tour was over, I walked back to the cg. The park was a lot busier today. Here’s a boater beached on the sand, enjoying the sunshine.
This is a great place to bring a bicycle
Many park roads
Just enough wind for sailing
This canoeist had an interesting innovation to add stability to the canoe so he can stand and fish from it.
Made with PVC pipe and foam noodles.
This is what I’ll be doing tomorrow morning
There were many fishermen on and under the bridge. They were catching a silvery fish…don’t know what it was.
View from the bridge looking down the Tomoka River.
So, dust off your PFDs, get your sunscreen ready for tomorrow.
