Yuma

Well we finally made it to Yuma just about dusk. We opted for a Motel 6 for the night. The way the time and light was fading we wouldn't have had time to go out looking for any kind of a campsite seeing as how we have never been here before. It's money we didn't want to spend but ya do what ya gotta do. And not to mention we were in desperate need of showers!

Kelly has been looking on line and I guess we are gonna go up to Mittry Lake and pick out a spot. At least we hope. At least that will give us some time to look around for a regular campground with hookups and most importantly "SHOWERS"! I don't might roughing it for a while but not for the next 3 months. Nope, got to have showers between now and April. hehehehe

Once we get set up and settled in we will have to give Jenny and Dan a holler and go visit another couple that we worked with at the Lodge. They made us promise that we would contact them as soon as we got into Yuma. They are a nice couple and it will be good to see them. Kinda looking forward to sitting still for a while. Between the stress in TN and then the hard travel to FL and now to Yuma it will be nice to just sit. At least until we catch our breathes then of course we will have to do some road trips. To Q and to Cal to see Kelly's best friend. She calls her "Sissy" and I call her "my red headed stepchild"!

Ok time to go jump in that shower that we paid for. Then I will come back and do some more reading.

we are here in Q and Jenny and Dan will be leaving for Q on Monday this is the time of year to go to Q as it is when it's it's busiest and one can experience Quartzsite at it's 'best' might want to give them a call tomorrow. What part of Cal are you going to?
In Blythe there are several campground Chris is staying at one and it seems like when we drove through it last year there where tents and would assume it had showers.. didn't inquire actually
look us up ok?

Yep. Mayflower County Park in Blythe. Has good bathrooms with showers. $22 day with hookups, $18 with no hookups. Right on the Colorado River. Quartzsite is about 20 miles or so from here.

If you stay for a month, it's only $250/month - electricity, water, and honey wagon three times a week. Lots of snowbirds here from all over the country - many have get=togethers each night, some potlucks, and lawn bowling every day at 2 PM.

Hey Sheila, we will be here around in the area until close to the end of April. So we will have time for sure. Not sure exactly where but some where around here. Had thought of going to Q first but with living in our tents the warmth of Yuma was a major deciding fact.

Will catch up with Jenny and Dan when they get back. And we will for sure let you know when we are heading up to Q so that we can meet up.

We will be going to Escondido CA to see Kelly's best friend. She use to live in San Marcos but has moved to Escondido in the past month.

As to camping, neither one of us expect or demand luxury but do need a few creature comforts. Showers are #1 on the list. If not, no one would ever want to be down wind of us let alone stand next to us. ;)

You might want to check the weather forecast for next week, especially if you're going to be tenting. There's supposed to be quite a bit of rain in the area.

The temperature has been absolutely fantastic. Blythe is known as probably one of the hottest places in the country during the summers, but winters are wonderful. But, as I said below, you probably want to check the weather forecast. I'm not sure how much rain we're going to get.

Yeah, suppose to get the rain down here too. Oh well! It's gonna rain whether we are here or not and we sure can't afford to stay in the motel for a week. ~sigh~ Story of my life......go camping......get rained on!

Oh! Except Florida. Go camping for the very first time in my life in FL and got SNOWED on!! Yep leave it to me.

Glad you made it and enjoying a few creature comforts for the night :)
Weather is suppose to be taking a major turn for the worse starting Monday. Touted as some of the worse rains we've (CA) have had in years.

Ya know I live in Esco too! Let me know when you two get in town. Maybe we can meet up for dinner at Cocina del Charro :)

Heard Mittry Lake is pretty. Jenny and Dan have stayed there for several nights. I've been wanting to head there some time too.

Safe travels you two.

Beth, Sparkle, and I stayed at Mittry Lake for several days - I loved it! Even found a geocache there. There is a pit toilet but no showers. But, there's always the lake.
