San Ignacio, Baja

Spent the night at a campground in San Ignacio. We met a nice Canadian couple, Stan and Sharon. Had to taste test the local Margies. Yep, still good!

We walked into town and visited the San Igancio Mission built in 1760. The walls were 4 feet thick. It was nice and cool in there.

There was a beautiful Square with ancient Laurel trees.

We did inquire about a trip to see the cave paintings. But it cost 1700 pesos and there was a long drive in a van to get to them. So you will have to settle for a copy in the museum.

We are now in Mulege. I put in this map to let you see how far down we are. This is from a tour guide, so the line on the map is not exactly what we followed, but there is only Hwy 1 in Baja so it's pretty close. Now that we are in Mulege (pronounced Mew ley HAY) I frankly see no need to move on. It is everything we were hoping for in Mexico. We have paid for a week so we will see how long we can stand being Beach Bums. More on that later.

Trust me. Being a beach bum is fantastic in the right place! San Felipe was mine, sounds like you've found your spot in Mulege.

I love the looks of San Igancio, the streets shaded by the trees look wonderful.

Those ancient laurels are beautiful around the square! Glad you think you've found a resting place. Looking forward to seeing more of the area.

Mulege is a neat little town. Can see why you'd like it. In fact today I had put on a sun dress I bought while we were staying at
Bahia Conception on the beach. If you get as far as Loreto drive your truck into the interior to see San Javior (SP) mission -
How could they build these places in the mid 1700s?
Enjoy.
