We went to the little town of La Noria about 25 miles from Mazatlan. While there we visited two of the towns leather "factories" It was very interesting. As the post is so long with lots of pictures I don't want to deal with photobucket so if you'd like to visit with us its at
http://mexicobymotorhome.blogspot.com (right click say open in new window) then you can close it and be right back here.
one correction they make 200 shoes a day not 200 pairs. hope you enjoy

All of the photos didn't come up, but enough did that I got a good feel for the place. Very interesting. Comment on the smell of leather...I don't eat meat and my nose is sensitive to the smell. I can't go into a leather goods store, it's like being in a really dirty butcher shop. So I'm glad I could enjoy it via photos.

It is my understanding that the smell of leather is the tanning chemicals, not the leather itself. Correct?
