Interesting Experience in Mexico

Well I had an experience in Mexico today that I doubt too many people have had.
We drove back to El Quelite today for lunch in the neat restaurant. Remember how I mentioned it was like being in the jungle to eat there. Well……we were sitting at the table when I felt something hit my head and back. Felt damp. I checked to see where the parrot was. He was sitting on his perch eating corn on the cob. I looked up into the tree. Hum….maybe they had watered the trees earlier and a breeze had caused some water to fall. Started to eat and felt something again. I brushed my head with my hand, didn’t feel anything. Bill asked what was wrong. I said something fell on me. He looked up and some leaves were slowly floating down. Didn’t feel like leaves. Weird. Then plop, plop again on my head and back. I was looking up and feeling my head. Suddenly the waiters and waitresses were pulling me out of my chair and pulling our food off the table. They were pointing into the trees. Finally I got Bill to translate – through his laughter – there were a couple of iguanas in the tree fighting. Well when iguanas fight they poop. One guess what was in my hair and down my back. Yep! Our food hurriedly got moved to another table. The manager came out and said she would get me another shirt and wash mine. Then they took me into a bathroom where I could rinse my hair and change clothes. After that we finished our lunch. Me in my borrowed shirt and wet hair. Every so often someone would look at me and try to hide their laughter. It was kind of funny though. Not everyone gets shat by on iguanas while eating lunch.
Here’s a couple of pictures of the culprits. One is orange with black stripes and one is green. Both were a couple of feet long.

I'm sure thats something you would rather not experience again, you can just
remember it as one of those "been there, done that" moments

In Florida they are falling out of the trees due to the cold weather shutting them down. They revive when the temp warms.

I heard that some guy gathered up a bunch of "dead" iguanas down there the other day and put them in his car (who knows what he wanted them for, do people eat them?). Anyways, the car was warm and the iguanas started to wake up and climb around all over the car and totally freaked the guy out!

PS> I would have totally lost my appetite if something crapped on me while I was eating! Did you get your meal for free?

OMG!!!! I would have broke out in a hysterical laugh!! Kinda like the time Dan knocked me off the dock by accident and I came out out of the water clothes glasses and all dazed and confused as to why I was in the water!! Only thing I could do was laugh!!

Been there done that (let me clarify - knocked into the lake by DH) NOT gettin pooped on by tow peeved Iguanas. The old saying better to get peed on then pssd off comes to mind, but in this case I'd rather be pooped than pooed on....LOL ... sorry  just had to say it. LOL I would have been mortified, but then laughed it off. Sounds like they went out of their way to get you all comfy and clean again. Certainly a good story to share around a campfire. :D  :D

I think it is NEAT (no pun intended!) that you took the time to photo the culprits!

As someone said, this will be a meal you won't forget in times to come!

What a funny experience. Have to chalk it up to eating outside. Bugs, bees, ants , birds and now iguanas. :D Glad you took in in stride, it's all a part of the adventure. Linda
