Resolutions ...

Okay, it's time to use the "R" word. I'll begin with a quote I pulled from a FB friend today:
Mark Twain, playing off the saying that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions," had this to say about New Year's Day: "Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual."
Okay, my asphalt will contain a resolution to get back to my fighting weight/fitness by June (that's less than 10 lbs. a month) and to fully shed my widow's weeds and embrace the life that I have.
How about you?

I hate making resolutions at New Year's - they never seem to last. However - this year I feel as if everything I knew to be true, isn't. I have gained 35 pounds in the last year and I HATE it! I have to figure something out and actually address it. Maybe getting the Wii Fit out of the box would help! LOL My oldest is making noise about a possible summer wedding and I'll be darned if I'm going to look like this in wedding pictures!
Other than that I just need to get used to my new reality - and really come to grips with it. I'm OK until next fall when my income drops precipitously when I'm afraid food stamps and a free place to park either my Alpenlite, or my butt, will be my new reality. So - I need to consider this as just another part of my adventure. What I really need to resolve is that my attitude will change! I need to go from scared to empowered. Easier said than done! LOL

Kerry, just remember that when one door closes, another one opens. You just have to find it!
No resolutions...I'd just be paving that road with them!

Almost every New Years I resolve to get fit. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not, but it's always temporary....I tend to slide back to couch potato when home in the stick house and the weather gets cold. I live too close to the kitchen here, and too far from the woods. But anyway, I'll start anew. I exercise with Wii fit too, and now have Wii Fit Plus games which are fun. I've done it 4 days in a row now...how long will it last?
The other resolution (I'll be able to pave a highway) concerns budgeting. I've decided not to buy anything except necessities until I pay off the rv. My goal is to be debt free (again) before I leave for my summer trip. We'll see how I do.

My resolution for this coming year is to get healthy. I have two goals to get started on it: drink more water and less soda and to cut out sugary foods from my diet. I need to get my diabetes under control and so my two goals will help me to do just that. I need to add exercise into the equation but know that that is my biggest struggle is to get up and get moving. We have a Wii fit so I have no excuse for not exercising even in bad weather.
I figure if I share my goals with all those in my life I will be more accountable to myself and others. Feel free to ask me how I am doing with each of these goals.
Good luck to everyone as you make resolutions and try to stick to them.

at the risk of being repetitive I'll resolve (again) to take off some weight. But I'll also resolve to persevere,... I tend to give up sometimes and just accept the whatever it is at the time. I need to get some of my old indpendent attitude back.
Here's to 2010 .... may you all have a wonderful year of good health, happiness and happy camping!

This time last year I started my goal of loosing 35 lbs., which I did by the end of April. Since Oct. I have gained 7 back so today I'm back on the wagon! I have only good foods in the house again. No more bread, cookies, chips or CHOCOLATE!
I made wheatberry salad that will last me a couple days, and I'll add to that some baked chicken breasts and start steaming fresh veggies again. I also need to relearn portion size!

I always do resolutions. I actually accomplish quite a few each year. Some of mine for this year are to exersize (this is one I usually am not too successful with because I am lazy
), get my debt paid down, ride my bike more (bought a new bike last spring and only used it once!), find an RV, downsize my possessions, go camping (locally) as much as possible to get a feel for it, until I can finally make a break for it! I'd like to take a vacation this spring with my tax refund money but I think I should use that to pay off some of my bills instead. Have to keep that carrot (RV living) in front of me and plan ahead!
Happy New Year!

I don't make serious resolutions anticipating advance consequences. I just try to do better every day. That's hard enough for me. But I do resolve to post more often on this forum. I do visit daily but typing is such a chore for me, three letters forward and two corrected! Also, I have an announcement. This may not be the right place for it but-- I have a 1997 Winnebago Adventurer, class A, 35 foot. So another resolution is to get to know and feel comfortable driving and backing up my new to me home. Happy New Year!

Congratulations on your new rig, Orchid. How about posting some pictures over in the "show off your rig" section? We love pictures.

Sorry Liz. I also have a new laptop and haven't figured out how to download and post my pictures. Maybe that should be another resolution? But when I do figure it out, I'll certainly send out some "brag pictures".
