Well, I am not impressed

grrrr PayPal!!
ok, last week I got my new heater ordered, spent quite a bit of time researching online
as well as local to get exactly what I wanted. Allowed for the purchase on my budget and
made the transfer into paypal. Waited for the money to come out of my account and
then proceeded to make my purchase. I order the heater and using paypal, it says the
funds are not there but its ok cause they will use my bank card I have attached to my
paypal to make up any difference. I actually put in a little extra, but hey, I'm new to
this paypal thing so finally I get the email that says my heater has shipped and it
should be here by the end of the week. This morning, I ran out of propane AGAIN and
of course I check my bank balance to make sure I have the funds to cover it, well...
what do I see but an additional payment taken out of the account for the heater!
WTH!! I left an email for the bank, called the company I ordered the heater from and
also called paypal. In a nutshell, I paid for the heater twice. Paypal assures me the
first deposit should show up in my account today and all I have to do is transfer it
back into my bank account. Why do I feel this is just gonna be one big headache?!
Now, if I had been waiting on a check to clear and the account was short because of
this mishap, I would have been charged an nsf. In the past I've always just used my
debit card to make any (have done a few) purchases online but I began to worry about
it so decided it was safer to use the paypal thing. Well, needless to say, I'm really
not impressed with PayPal. Ok, now I've vented my frustration, propane bottle is
filled, we're warm again and I'm movin on to chores.

A few years ago..I tried to use pay pal and had the same thing happen. I did get the $$ back it was a pain to deal with.

So what I did..I went the bank and opened a second checking acct and got a debit card. That is the one I use for all online purchases. I just transfer the $$ I need from our main checking acct into that one. I keep a 25.00 balance in it. That has worked much better for me. I have found it easier to work out issues with the bank then I did with paypal.

Sorry you had such a frustrating experience Ava but what you have to do is check your PayPal account to see that the transfer is completed, it isn't instant!
When someone pays me for eBay purchases with an echeck which comes out of the buyers checking account and into my Paypal, that takes at least 3+ days. I wait until I get the Paypal notice that the payment has cleared into my account before I ship the purchase.

my mistake really, I expected it to be instant when it showed up removed from my
bank account. Apparently you have to wait 3 to 5 days before you order something.
I did not know that  I'll keep my paypal and use it if someone wants to buy
something from me, like when I sell my hair. I used to have two checking accounts
just for that reason but recently closed the other one. Will have to do that again.

Sorry you had such a time with Paypal, Ava. I haven't used it in a couple of years, but when I was selling a lot via Ebay (and also did some buying! ) I didn't have any problems with it. Lately I've heard of several people having issues with paypal. Makes me wonder if it's as good as it used to be?

I do a lot of buying on Ebay BUT I always use a credit card. So much easier and faster to deal with your credit card company if you have a problem. If its a small amount I will have it taken directly from my bank account. Have only had one problem with Paypal and it was a pain in the A** to get taken care of.

I use to use PayPay quite a bit on Amazon and never had a problem with them. Sorry you have had issues.

I, too have used paypal several times in recent months,, and NO problems. I guess nothing is w/o its glitches. Paypal is spose to be used for when you DON"T wanna give them a cc #. Oh well,,, we live and learn.
