I read this article about online shopping this morning on foxnews.com.
Yet another new way to try and part you from your money, especially now during the Christmas Season.

Yet another reason for the buyer to beware. Never, never agree to anything without reading the fine print. I'm careful when shopping on line to uncheck the box that says I want tons and tons of email offers for their "specials", etc. Now, if I could just shut off Good Sam's constant deluge of mailings.

You can turn off all the Good Sam mail - I did it - I think from their website, but otherwise, call and do it.

Speaking of Good Sam - I've been in a fight with them all week. Last year, because I knew some things on the rig were dying - I took out the extended service contract. Did it all by phone. Worked out because I ended up replacing my fridge and microwave. Anyway, I just looked to see what charges would be coming out of my bank account from my credit cards - expecting around $60 - and one was over $1000. Guess who? Good Sam's. To make a long story short - they charged me almost %1000 for another year - saying I was on auto renew - which I asked how that happened when I never ever said that was ok -

They agreed to credit - it was 2 days later, no credit, called them again - finally spoke to a supervisor who told me they only put through refunds/credits ONCE A WEEK. Hah - they want to hold onto everyone's money they took without permission and make money on it. Told them if it's not in my account today (they said it can't be as they won't initiate it before today) that I will initiate a chargeback and they can pay the fees associated with that - as they have no right to hold my money. If I wanted to buy something today, you can bet they'd put the charge through. I'm furious.

So, yes, when your money is involved, you watch everything you do.

Speaking of Bad S...er Good Sam. I got a flat tire on my TT on a freeway. Knew something was up and when cars started honking at me I pulled over fast. Called Beth on the radio to turn around and come back. So I'm at the edge of a freeway with the TT rocking like crazy with passing vehicles, wondering how Beth will get back. I call Sam and they say they will have someone out within the hour. Then the guy asks if I have a spare. I tell him Yes. He then says, Oh have I got a good deal for you! We can have the guy bring a new tire out with him and that way you'll have your spare and not have to worry. I'm frazzled (and stupid) and I agree. Cost me 200.00! If I had just got the guy to change to the spare it wouldn't have cost me a penny. I could have bought a tire at my leisure and got a good price. I called them and told them what I thought of them taking advantage of the pore 'ol widder woman and she said they would look into it. Naturally I haven't heard back from them and don't expect to. They send out so much junk mail, even though I also opted for the no mail, that somehow my new cards were thrown out. Nobody can tell what's important and whats not. For instance they keep sending mail about that insurance where if you are ill they will tow your vehicle home for you. No use to me..I have no home, but until I opted out I think I got one of those every other day. No wonder they are having financial problems!

Thank you gals for your Good Sam comments. Now I really know that I need to shred all their junk mail. I pay my yearly fees and get at least 10 more reminders to pay for the yearly fee before Dec. In other words, maybe the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing with Good Sam. I think they're just trying to get more $$$$!!

Unless you use the good sam discount, why belong to the club? You can still get the ERS from them. I found I was not using the discount so let my membership lapse, and now I am junk mail free. Very simple. Linda
