Where's Liz? Is it still Monday?

The best way to enjoy boating is to have friends who own boats. Chances are you’ll be invited aboard as guests or crew. And so it was today when friends Linda & David invited me to join them as they took their new 2010 pontoon boat out on the water for the first time.


We launched at beautiful Carney Island Park on Lake Weir.



What’s in a name: Ever wonder where that Minute Maid orange juice came from as a kid?


Ready to launch…plenty of helping hands. I stood at the spot marking the end of the ramp to warn so trailer wheels wouldn’t go off.

The plan was to putz around the lake awhile, then to stop for lunch at Gator Joe’s on the other side of the lake.


This is me, enjoying the ride. Overcast skies kept it a little on the cool side. What happened to yesterday’s sun?

So, you want to know how to meet people who own boats? Take a safe-boating class offered by your local United States Power Squadron boating organization. Then join the group, no boat required…you’ll be invited along on plenty of neat cruises.
