Sunny and the Twins say good bye to Ohio

Sunny and the Twins were enjoying the NC doggy campground when last they wrote. Sunny wanted to be sure that Mitch got to see what one of the women there was using to cook on. Mitch showed us her "oil pans" to use with the Dutch oven and coals......walking past with the pups in the morning I saw this nice lady's set up (from the Cabala Store) ...it puts the coals and the working surface at counter level. Now Mitch, being a young and agile woman who moves a lot, she probably doesn't mind the bending over cooking part :) This set up seemed mighty nice to those of us that don't want to stand on our heads as often........ Just saying....

Image

After leaving the 4 Paws Kingdom Campground we headed east on Rt 64 (the scenic route)...okay it did take us twice as long to make it to Knoxville area but we got to see lots of mountains, some beautiful lakes and drove through Carolinagal's Murphy, NC......So now we know what living out in the wilderness looks like!

Image

When we got back to Lebanon, Oh.....there was still some color to the trees, at least this one that Herschel showed Sunny and the Twins. We had to watch Stuart he kept trying to grab the Twins thinking they were a new chew toy....He wondered why they were hanging around Herschel and not being given to him!

Image

Well, because look at the face on the wild and crazy guy (Stuart in front looking at the camera)...would you trust your guests with that? All the dogs seems to enjoy the weather and the fact that they were all together again....lets run around crazy and bark and wiggle!

Image

Herschel decided to take his guests on a short tour of Lebanon.....seeing that they had enjoyed those other states so much. First he had us drive through Taco Bell and, wow, look at the color left in Ohio.

Image

Then he took Sunny and the Twins down to Main and Broadway.

Image

As you can tell the width of the street does make it very picturesque. That is the famous Golden Lamb on the left.

Image

And here is another picture. Many famous travelers have stopped here, including Charles Dickens. It has many antique furnishings including a lot of shaker furniture (There was a shaker village not far from here.)

Image

And it seems SOMEONE forgot to take a picture of the back....and the rest of the story....
Image

Here is the picture of our Public Library (the one mentioned on the sign). They don't let Herschel in, but it is one of Tina's favorite places! .... Included it especially for Carolinagal :) She likes libraries, too!

Image

Here is another sign about town. No I didn't take a picture of the building it really isn't that remarkable but I thought the population info was interesting.

Image

Herschel then walked on down Broadway to the Train Station. The train runs excursions every weekend and special trains, like Thomas the Train at different times of the year. The also have Mystery Train Theater excursions from time to time.......

Image

Herschel also told Sunny and the Twins about his and Remi's friends and how happy they were to see him back from his travels...

Image

Back at the house Remi made sure to show the kids how the new "Pottery Barn/Studio" is coming! Before the kids left the workers had managed to put a roof and and the sides on...... The open area on the left is for the husband's boat. :) The RV will still be parked in the driveway...but then again, Herschel and I didn't pay for the "Pottery Studio"

Image

Well after hanging around Ohio for awhile and watching the leaves fall and some of the crops get in....the yellow of fall corn stalks is one of my favorite colors.....the Twins were shampooed and ready to head back to California.

Image

They rode over to the store with Remi and along with Cousin Mitty, who they had found hanging around saying he would really like to see California! Seems he hasn't seen much of the world...other than maybe China

Image

Remi wasn't sure that he wanted a kiss good bye from Mitty!

Image

Here, everybody is getting weighed and the ladies at the UPS store begin to get them ready for their trip! (Those ladies only laughed a little...... working with the public...yes there are all kinds of people out there  )

Image

All addressed and ready to go. The nice ladies said they would take good care of the kids. They even reminded me to wave good bye.... :) Next stop So. California! Sharon, here we come! :) :) :)

Tina, you are amazing! What a great story. It could be a children's book - "From Potholders To Pets".
Thanks for all the time you spent doing that!

And, I'll have you know -I'm NOT young and agile. I would die to be able to bring one of those tables. Just can't afford the weight. Maybe some day I'll have a beefier tow vehicle!

Good-bye, Sunny and The Twins. We'll miss your adventures! Maybe your real handler (handler, get it....)will take you places, too...if not, we can always call DPFS and report her!!!

PS: where did Mitty come from?

Great story and pictures Tina thank you! I agree with Mitch I think you should make it into a children's book.

Ah, the adventures of Sunshine and the Twins is almost over, but they have Cousin Mitty to share the ride home with, as long as they don't get into an East Coast/West Coast throw down! Sharon could open the box and have shreds, LOL.

So much for the children's book idea...I don't think it would be a very popular book with the main characters ending up shredded in a box.
Kill joy.

Really enjoyed the adventures, Tina. Thanks to Herschel too for showing us around Lebanon...very pretty town dressed up in fall colors. The mystery train sounds like fun...have you ever done it?

What a great story !!!! I loved it, and the pictures of your town are really nice. Looks to be a town I would love to explore. I have past by the turn off 75, so many times, its really bad of me, I never went there. Oh well, someday. If you traveled 64 into Tn. you pasted right by my home, wish I had been here. I could have showed you several interesting areas around here. Seems to me Sunny and the Twins, had the best trip of any of us, I just thought I had a great one :D Some of us will have to leave you something else to take on a trip and give a real treat as this one has been. You have a great gift for stories, Thanks Tina, for all the time involved, I certainly enjoyed it

Safe and Happy travels all,
Carol

The pics were absolutely lovely. Am I understanding correctly that those historical sites/blgs.. are in OHIO?

I would love to visit places like that. My list sure is growing!

love ya'll

SOB! I am SO going to miss more adventures of Sunny and the Twins! I think Sharon should mark the package "Return to sender" so we don't have to suffer withdrawal symptoms! It seems as if Belle should perhaps go to Tina, unless Sparkle, when she gets free of her toiling, can do more with the little pink one! I somehow feel that Belle will make a brand new appearance when Sparkle and Beth get outta Dodge and back onto the road!

Thanks so much for the great stories and pics, Tina! It has been such fun, and YES-----would make a great kids' book! Mitty must be a cousin who 'needed' to go visit CA!

The Golden Lamb and the other buildings are all in downtown Lebanon, OH. Herschel and the other furry pawed creatures live about a mile outside of Lebanon......where multiple, sometimes barky, dogs don't get noticed as much :D The midwest really is full of interesting history, it is just that when you live someplace....you don't always stop to read all the historical signs......

Tina, thank you soooo much for showing Sunny and the twins such a great time! I'm sure they'll have plenty to tell me when they get home! I guess I need to be a better momma to them, even tho they've been all over the U.S. and Alaska they've always had to stay in Hope and watch her. Hmmmm.....wonder how they would like riding on a motorcycle??

I'm in Ehrenberg and will be home on Tuesday, can't wait to hear about all of their adventures and to meet cousin Mitt. Since they didn't hang to much with Mitch and Vickie I'm sure that all three of them are getting along fine with no violence on the trip home.

Off to the Jacuzzi to soak these tired muscles! Between the wind, rain and snow I'm a mess!!
