Road trip to Bentonville, Arkansas

I can now add another state to my visited states map - Arkansas, finally. Margie and I drove to Bentonville this morning to check out the Wal-Mart Museum and do a little geocaching along the way. She's just beginning but seems to be a natural as she found all seven of the caches today. Even hiked up a steep hill covered with wet leaves to find one at the top. We walked around the town a little, found several beautiful parks, and ate pizza at Jane, Missouri (on Hwy 71) coming back. After this week, we'll only be able to do things on Wednesdays and possibly Thursday mornings because of our different work schedules.

In other news, I've been invited to return to Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah next summer to be a movie host again as well as do some gardening. Nothing finalized yet, but I'm looking forward to getting back there. Now that I've got my Golden Age pass for the national parks, it will be great to see Bryce and Zion in much greater detail. Fantastically beautiful area.

How nice to have a job all lined up again for next summer, Chris! Especially one that you like!

I never knew they had a Walmart museum! What on earth is in that?

That part of Utah is beautiful with so many National Parks nearby. How nice that you get to spend the summer there again and that you'll get in free to all the parks!

Here's a little more info about the place. Bentonville isn't that large but there are at least six (probably more) Wal-Mart stores there, as well as the corporate headquarters of Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

My son was working in the Bentonville area several years ago and he said they have Wal-Mart stores that he had never seen before. I don't know what he meant but maybe they try out new stores before building them else where.

When I worked for a rice company they made our guy that handled their account move to Bentonville. The 800 pound gorilla tells you where to live. I handled their account on the accounting side and that was a nightmare. The check stub could be 3 or 4 pages of deductions that they thought they were entitled to.

Key words: "just a little." NOT! I thought I was used to rain in Oregon but this part of Kansas has them beat by gallons.

Oh great Chris, you are thinking about going back to this area the very year I won't be here. Beth and I visited Imperial Point and I was telling Beth about you and your son visiting there. Missed you!

I've missed you too. Of course, it also depends on which way you drive up to
Alaska. Now THAT sounds like a wonderful trip/job to look forward to.
