Carol (Carolineagal) and Maggie and I and the pups have made it through to Mississippi. We are traveling in the slow speed. After leaving the GTG we drove mostly in the wind Friday....until right before we hit the Parkway and later the campground....then it was heavy rain. Found two spots and noticed/found a craft show and festival set up in the park. We walked around Saturday and managed not to spend our money. Listened to a fabulous ranger "narrative/story" about Meriwether Lewis's life. We saw were he was buried, took some picture, listened to some live country music and walked back to camp. Met several two other campers, each traveling in their converted vans....swapped stories and listened to some guitar strumming around a campfire. There was a large group of bike enthusiasts that spent the night Friday, having come in off the Parkway in the rain and sleeping in their tents....boy was I glad to have a warm, dry RV to hunker down in. Carol was very popular this morning and shared coffee with fellow travelers. The two older gentleman getting ready to head off on their older Indian Motorcycles had blown a fuse in their "Chase" vehicle/truck and one particularly was desperate for his morning coffee!
The Meriwether Lewis plaque out in front of his monument.
It's not like we knew the festival was here! But since it was, we decided to take advantage of it!
Carol checking out the X-mas ornaments.....
I liked the Monopoly Board made out of leather....it was beautiful!
Back on the move on Sunday...after the nice ranger let us out of the campground....apparently someone was to have come around to tell us we couldn't leave until 5:30 PM....after the festival closed. Luckily we were not told and by the time we got to the road block (9 AM their time), it was easier for them to let us out than to turn us around!!!!!
On one of our stops, Carol and Maggie walking part of the Sunken Trace......
Herschel getting his picture taken to send back to his friends at the health care center....so they know were he is traveling....
We stopped to take a walk to the spring and the creek that is known for its beaver dams..... Izzy is looking around to see if she can find the beaver....before it might find her!
