Tinnitus

Soos: I have seen you post about this condition making it hard for you to sleep without white noise. I just found out that it can be caused by a B12 deficiency and that caffeine can make it worse. Mine started after I hurt my back and took a lot of aspirin. Some medicines can make it worse as well. Mine is better at times so maybe because I haven't had as much coffee.

never had heard of the B12 connection. good to know. I have occasional problems, but it seems to be more when i've been in loud noises for a while.

I sure would rather think it's a lack of Vitamin B12 rather than too much coffee!

I have had this 'noise' in my ears all my life, however, long before I ever had caffeine in anything. I had a history of horrible earaches with ruptured ear drums when I was small, which I'm sure didn't help. My mother remembers my telling her I heard 'noises' in my ears as soon as I could talk. (I know, I know------hearing noises is a sign of many things unusual!!) I am sure she thought I was psychotic for a while!

Then, when I got labyrinthitis a couple of Christmases ago, along with the debilitating diziness and falling down, the noise became unbearable for a while. Some nights it still is. During the day, there is enough surrounding noise that my mind can block out that ringing/humming/'energy' noise---it sounds just like the noise I think we all get when we clench our jaws REALLY tightly----hard to describe....like a string stretched too tightly in the brain, perhaps. It's not a ring like a bell, or a hum like a voice---it's more like an electrical thing from a motor, or something. I have heard a similar noise underneath very high-power electrical towers.

Maybe I'll try to take some mega doses of Vit. B12 for a while, and see if that seems to help. (As long as I can't overdo on that vitamin---will have to check.) I really appreciate any and all info on this and anything I can try to alleviate it. (EXCEPT give up coffee!)
Thanks, Wicked!
:)

Soos, be careful taking mega doses of vitamins. Some can be worse for you in high doses. Some our bodies eliminate and they are safe...like vitamin C. Not sure on B12 but be careful and read the label.

I hope it works for you though.
