Hi -
thought I'd stop in and give you all an update on what's been happening since I got back to Iowa.
As you probably know I decided to quit the fulltime RV life. Since getting back to Iowa about 3 weeks ago I've been trying to find a way to make that happen.
In the last 5 days I've signed a lease on a nice little apartment, I move in on Monday - I've sold the RV and truck and picked out a cute new car, I drop the RV & truck off on Thursday the 8th and pick up my new car (Chevy Aveo - Tahiti Green) I also got a part time job at Petco ! I'm super excited to start work there, it'll be nice to be working with other animal lovers and I know I'll enjoy seeing the dogs that people bring into the store.
Lots of happenings in just a few days ! It doesn't seem very real just yet. I know I'll be sad to leave the Cottage and Ruby the truck behind - the Cottage has been a great home and Ruby has done an awesome job. Time to move on though and I know both of them will find wonderful new owners because they're great vehicles.
Tonight I went out to eat with my sisters and their families - we were celebrating my younger sister's birthday - we had such a wonderful time, I know I'm doing the right thing !
I have almost no furniture - my first big purchase will be a TV so that shows you my priorities ! I did buy some 2 ply toilet paper, some bubble bath and dishwasher soap - just a few of the things I've missed !
I wouldn't have missed my RV adventure for anything - I saw so many wonderful things, met wonderful people and learned SO much about myself. It was what I needed to do and now it's time to come home.
Onward ever !!!

Best of luck to you, Trudy. Hope everything works out well for you. You've been on a long spiritual journey to try and find your niche in life and hopefully you're on the right track. Sometimes we need to go down several different roads to find our way home. Hopefully you're on the right road now.....and if not, well, you'll just have to try a different one! Remember, it's the journey and not the destination!

Well said, Sharon. I clicked off and then sat and thought, why did I not reply to Trudy? I know it doesn't make sense, but I actually felt a sense of rejection. Sort of, hmmm, my lifestyle's not good enough for you? I know that's stupid, what's right for me, doesn't mean it's right for everyone. Good for you Trudy! You tried it, gave it your best shot and had the guts to admit it wasn't for you. It was a chapter in your life and now your off to write a new chapter. I wonder how the book of your life will turn out? I do hope it has a happy ending!

What she said, and said very well, I might add.
Trudy, good luck on this next phase of your life.

Good luck to you Trudy, your trip was amazing and just maybe someday you'll
get a little mh and make a few local short weekend jaunts around the country
and always have your apt to go home to. I also hope you continue to post from
time to time and if I ever get out that way I'll still want to meet up with ya girlfriend
Don't let Flo and Rida get too bored in Iowa, they could probably still have a few
local adventures and we'd love to see them, but of course only after you get settled.
(((((((((((((((big hugs for Trudy)))))))))))))))))

Thanks everybody - I'm excited !
Sparkle, it's not that your life isn't good enough for me, it's that it's YOUR life ! I'm sure you wouldn't want to live like I do.
I read a great quote that said something like "Don't spend so much time chasing your dream that you forget to live your life" - That's what if felt like I was doing, chasing my dream only to be missing my life here.

Mornng, Trudy!
I'm so happy your are getting settled in back home, again. You sound so much happier so ya gotta know you are doing what's right for you. At least for now.
We women reserve the right to change our minds on a dime!
Congrats on the new job! We want to hear all about it and the cute animals you'll get to meet and care for.
Give Molly and Murphy a scratch from me, and here's a ((((hug)))) for you!

Trudy,
You are living my lifestyle - and that is following your heart and what YOU need - be it in an rv or renting an apartment and getting a "normal" job - notice the quotes - are we or anything we do normal?
Good for you for following what you wanted and then discovering it wasn't really what you want - so head for it and your adventures aren't over, just taking another path.
Please, stay on here - you are part of us - and always will be -
