Finding GPS Co-ordinates

I see that Lori posted some co-ordinates for the GTG and was wondering where do you find those? Is there a book with a list of cities and their co-ordinates listed?

PS and I just learned how to change my Garmin from using it with an auto, to bicycle or pedestrian (walking). Pretty neat!

You supposedly can get coordinates from Mapquest and Google Maps.
I have only done that once because Streets & Trips gives you coordinates in their program.
Here's a screen shot of the 2010 version - coordinates are automatically displayed in the lower right corner.
In my 2008 version, you have to call up the coordinates dialog box whenever you want to use it.
Some websites give their location coordinates, too.

Just don't forget to change it back to Auto(mobile), or it'll take you weeks to get where you're going - you'll think the thing's broken!
(don't ask me why I know this... )

 Ernie did the posting and the look up for the co-ordinates for the PA GTG.... and yes, he used the Streets and Trips program....He loves his Garmin (I call her the Garmin B...as she's trying to take my navagating job and doesn't always know where she is going.... ) so he does coordinates there all the time.....If you'd like more on the "how tos" to put them in the Garmin, let me know and I'll have him do the posting... ;)

OK, Ernie, how is it done? I have no idea how to put coordinates into mine (the manual is no help at all).

I don't think I can put co-ordinates in mine....I've looked at everything in that darned GPS and nowhere is there an input for those! It's a Garmin Street Pilot c550. Think I screwed up and bought the wrong one!

While looking around to see if Sharon can put coordinates in her Garmin, I found this information on the POI Factory site. I have not gone snooping around at any of the links yet. The several links are to sites that give coordinates for U.S. street addresses.

You're right - looks like you cannot enter a destination using coordinates.
I wouldn't worry about it - I've only had to use coordinates twice.

See ya in a few weeks!
