The Annual Busy "B" Corn Roast...

Awhile ago I mentioned that my family has an annual corn roast that perked interest here.....So since I attended it today I thought I'd share some photos of this year's food fest at my family's farm in Northern PA...
First....the house I grew up in....my sister, Barb, and her hubby now run the farm....
Now to the corn roast....we build a big camp/bomb fire and burn it into a big pile of coals...then the coals are pushed to the sides and corn with husks on that have been soaking in water for 4-5 hours are placed in the center. Then the coals are put over them.....After about 18-20 minutes, the coals are pushed to the side again and a done test is done by pulling the husk back on an ear...
Family friend, Mike, who's a fireman locally doing the test....he always brings his gear...but the gear isn't nessarary....
The corn being declared ready to eat, is pulled quickly from the pit, husked, and rushed to the butter for eating...
My Mom enjoying a cold beer with her corn and picnic dinner..
You always have to have a roasted hot dog or 2....
Then it's lots of talk of the summer coming to an end, eating smores and then....
Eyeing Thanksgiving Day dinner.....
Have had a nice weekend, but am done with picnics for awhile...(3 so far this weekend)....and am now ready to head to a quiet winter in GA, camphosting...
Hope your Labor Day Weekend is going well....
