Wasn't quite sure where to post this question about routing. I am pondering 2 routes to CO from NV.
Route 1 is I15 north through UT hit I70 East to Grand Junction then south to Montrose and US50 east to Colorado Springs.
Route 2 is US93 South to Kingman, I40 East to Flagstaff, US89 North to US160 East, at Cortez US145 North to US550 at Ridgway North to Montrose then US50 to C. Springs. This is sort of a round about way, but way more scenic than the Interstates, but less services along the route I suppose.
Any thoughts?

Both are beautiful routes, plenty of services on both of them. I-70 has a stretch between Salina and Green River, about 90 miles, that there's no services. At all. Nada. I don't know what services are in Salina, but Richfield does. I fueled in Beaver before I went across there, but I hold 100 gal, so it wasn't a problem. Plenty of gas in Green River. Plenty of small towns and gas the southern route. Why don't you go one way and come back the other?

Agree with Sharon, both routes are great. Hmmm, everyone should have such a dilemma That's why this lifestyle-either full, part or sometimes-is great. Enjoy and post pics. carold

Cortez north to Ridgeway would take you through Telluride, a lovely town and the ski lift
operates in the summer for hikers or just plain sightseers. Some of the gondolas are marked
for pets some aren't, and some will take bicycles too. All those towns along the way have
gas, but the one in Ridgeway at the highway intersection is usually cheaper, NE side of
the intersection, then Montrose is a pretty good sized town, even has a walmart and have
seen people overnight in the parkinglot, although some things change and that was about
4 or 5 years ago. Right outside of Ridgeway on the way to Montrose is a nice state lake
and campground. Lots of elk in that area and deer too or course. Just before you get to
Montrose there are lots of hay fields and especially after cutting the deer are everywhere
so be aware, lots of deer collisions in that area. Such a scenic route you've got planned.
I have never gone from Montrose to Colo. Spgs, only into Denver. But if thats the route
that takes you through Sedalia, that would be South Park, and its usually really windy in
that area and I believe is the back way into Colo Spgs.

oh, one more thing, Flagstaff to Cortez took me one whole tank of gas on my old van.
There are two good towns to plan for fill up of should say topping off tank along that
way, Tuba City and Kayenta. I used to stop and have lunch in Kayenta. Not much between
Kayenta and Cortez, but of course 4 corners, and its not free anymore, the Indian reservation
decided to start charging people to go in there. Can't remember what the amount was.

Thanks for all the comments. I have driven the I15 - I70 to reach Moab last year. I70 seems to be the loniest interstate. So that is why I thought another route would be interesting. I guess the southern route would be more mountainous. I think I'll take your advice, Sharon, and go route 1 to C. Springs. From there I'm meeting other Class B owners in Pagosa Springs, so to return home I'll use US160.

My stop over from Pagosa Springs was going to be Tuba City, but I was reading about the RV park there and it doesn't sound good. Depending if I leave Pagosa on Sun. (9/20) or Mon (9/21) will dictate if I can visit you. Would love to meet you.
