New Computer

Okies, after having problems now for several months with my computer, I got more worried as sometimes it was taking me 45 minutes to get it booted and online, then it would crash - so knew I had to do something before arriving at the Grand Canyon and not having any help nearby. Stopped at a Best Buy (I really do like the Geek Squads). There are many things that could be wrong with this computer - some of which I might be able to fix. But because the 2 most likely culprits (which I already had figured) were going to eventually have me computerless - so when they confirmed that - I picked out a new computer. Had it down to a Dell, a brand I never heard of and a Toshiba. I ended up with the Toshiba only because it had the fastest operating system. They all go obsolete so quickly, that I decided that was the most important for me now.

Now, they had to keep my old hard drive and overnight last night they installed it only the new computer - so if I have the right programs, I can access everything I had. All well and good, but now I have to upload all those programs. Sitting in an rv park today south of Salt Lake City, where I'm trying to get that computer completely up so that it has everything on it I need. And hopefully I have the disks I need. Some things I can get again from online. Cross your fingers for me that this will be quick.

I'm making another post about why I've been in hiding for a week.

Hi there, good to hear from you. Good choice in laptops. I've had a couple Toshibas and like them. Just don't step on the screen - that is REALLY expensive to repair (that's why I've had a couple of them). May the good Lord grant you patience as you hunt for and reload all your programs, shortcuts, options etc. Do you have Vista now? Bill likes it and has no problems with it.

From everything I heard from the tech person where I worked Toshiba is a great brand. They are a bit pricey for me but I think this next time I'm going to bite the bullet and do it. I have NOT been happy with this HP laptop. I don't want to go back to a desktop, but might have one for the house and a smaller netbook for camping and traveling. I'll be still living in the house for at least three more years. (granddaughter's high school basketball career will be over then)

I'll be anxious to see what you think of it as you start using it.
